I love the bird design with that shape bag.  Really cute.  And it looks perfect from here.  Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Sundress from Tank on: July 24, 2009 01:07:21 PM
cute!  Have you seen the new ReadyMade?  There's recon they made with two t-shirts and a tank.  You take one of the shirts and cut it under the arms and sew it to the bottom of the tank to make a dress.  Then with the other shirt you make a lettuce edge tunic top to wear over it.  Your dress made me think of it cause I got the mag just to make it!

I haven't seen it.  But now that you just told me... I'm going to try it.  Thanks!

Here's a quick sundress that I made from a tank that kept riding up and a vintage sheet.

Just cut the sheet one and half to two times hip width and the length you want and attach at the waist.  To see the details go to the how to here.

That is really cute.  I would not have guessed that you could get a whole outfit from the one pair of pants.  Nice!

And the applique style flowers that you made into a belt for the other pair of pants is brilliant.

Really cute.  I like the fabric choices you made.  Dots and flowers are so feminine.

Nice!  I love that you used a canvas.  That is so much easier to stitch through, than if you have to line up with a board you drilled through, or stitch and not hit the board.  Thanks for sharing that.
9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Adding satin/ribbon edge to pre-made baby blanket on: June 15, 2009 05:25:44 AM
The directions on the Wrights website looked simple enough.  But when I tried it today, it wasn't like the pictures!

I think I did okay on the corners . . . but what do are you supposed to do when you get to the end?

And should you start at a corner, or somewhere in the middle?

When you are on the second side and get near the end stop.  Fold the corner down and miter it.  It's helpful if you have a bit of water soluble double sided tape to stick it all together.  Pins get in the way.

That's great.  I now have a whole bunch of ideas of things I could recover, now that you've given me the idea to make a lid out of cardboard.  Thanks.
