1  Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 12-Summer Fun Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by magpie_eyes on: September 12, 2010 11:02:41 AM
Mr. Garden Gnome has made it safely back to Canada, and he has decided to live outside like a real garden gnome with the camping kit that Koalascout made for him in Georgia.  Check out how cute it is:

And here are the souvenirs he brought back from his summer vacation:
He brought back some Red Diamond tea, which is popular in the South.  (It makes really good iced tea!)  There is a thimble from Illinois, a KFC pin, some postcards, a scrapbook, extra pics and a disc of pics, an Ohio keychain, a Christmas ornament (Which is funny, because I sent a Christmas ornament back with Tom and Mel) and a glass from Florida, which isn't pictured because it is currently in the dishwasher.  There is also a clamshell and a postcard from the Restaurant Marietta Fish Market, and two mini water guns.  Thanks for swapping Koalascout, it was a lot of fun  Smiley

I have decided to let a different LV go on a trip this time: Mr. Garden Gnome made it out in the mail today, he's heading to Georgia Smiley
Here he is at home,

And with his family:

I know he is going to have a great time.  Can't wait for Mel to get here!

Reserved  Smiley

Here are Mel and Tom, patiently waiting in the office for work to be done before they go on one of many road trips!

Here is Mel in front of the spider sculpture that is located in the courtyard of the National Gallery of Canada.
And here he is in front of Gzowski college at Trent University (the University I attended):

A photo of Ritchie's Wharf in Miramichi, taken from a boat tour that we went on:

If you would like to see more pictures of their trip, as well as follow Mel and Tom's adventures in Canada, check out their blog: http://melstripacrosscanadaacraftsterorgswap.blogspot.com/
Feel free to leave comments because I love to know I am not just talking to myself Wink

Hi all!  I am hoping to participate in this swap, and I know my visitor would have an amazing time!  This is because I am moving from Ontario to New Brunswick this summer, so my Visitor will see half of Canada!  I'm just waiting for approval  Smiley  Here is my buddy Gnomie who is posing in front of the pool in Santa Clara, Cuba:

5  Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 9 Winter Vacation Gallery in The Swap Gallery by magpie_eyes on: November 08, 2008 08:24:33 PM
Reserved for Frederik's trip to Lakefield, Ontario, Canada! Cheesy

Frederik is getting ready to go home.  He has had a long vacation that has involved a lot of traveling and a LOT of snow and cold.
Here is a teaser photo for Gwin - Frederik is standing in front of Lake Buckhorn, part of the Trent-Severn waterway in the Kawartha Lake District.  Also known as - cottage country!

The rest of Frederik's photos (as well as the ones that were previously here) will be put up in a gallery in flickr after I know Gwin has seen them from Frederik's vacation album.  Goodbye Frederik!  Safe trip home tomorrow!

Captain Highliner is home again!  Here he is:

He had a fabulous time - I can tell from all of the pictures!  If you can't see details in the picture, he brought home a beeswax candle from the Christmas market in Erfurt, a wooden Christmas ornament from Jena, handmade earrings and an awesome cup with his picture on it!  I love the cup - it is very cute and well done! An extra disc of pictures and a scrapbook were included - which made me add Germany to my list of travel wants!  There was also a lot of candy (Gummi bears, and chocolate) but they disappeared before the picture was taken.
Thanks Gwin!

7  Re: Simplicity 4072 in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by magpie_eyes on: March 17, 2007 10:17:22 AM

Here are the pictures of the dresses I made with this pattern.  I made the strap twice as long, so it would wrap around the body - usually I tie it somewhere on my side.

8  comfy, easy, simplicity jumper in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by magpie_eyes on: November 06, 2006 06:39:25 AM
This is from Simplicity pattern 4097 - It was super easy to make, I didn't even follow the directions.  It probably took under an hour to make after I cut it.  I made it with a light weight grey wool, that is super itchy because I was too lazy to put the liner in.  It is okay with tights on though.  And if I don't let it touch me.

And here is a not very good picture of it on me.   The coat is Very Easy Vogue pattern V8123.

Now I think I am going to try the "Built by Wendy" pattern #4111.  Making clothes keeps me out of trouble  Wink

9  If at first you don't succeed, ask someone on Craftster. in Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions by magpie_eyes on: October 12, 2006 05:42:10 PM
Why is this happening?

After I start to wash the screen, the image peels off!
I am using speedball photo emulsion, and I usually use a more industrial brand.  The industrial brand comes in a vat, and I never use it all before it expires, so I thought I would try something different.  I have a light table, and exposed it for six minutes, thirty seconds.
Am I putting the emulsion on too thick?
The emulsion also curled away at the edges of the image.
Any help would be appreciated!

I don't think Maggie Scraps is coming home. Sad  If anyone sees this girl -

wandering around the United States somewheres, tell her to quit shopping and come back to Canada.
And I don't know if the Mustachios made it back safely, but the post office tells me that they did.  They must be very tired from their trip, because I have not heard from them yet.  Here are several pictures from their visit.
First, is from the Fringe festival.  The Mustachios are posing with two lovely thespians in front of the Covent Garden Market, in London,Ontario,Canada.

Here is baby Mustachio inside the Covent Garden Market

Our trip to Toronto, that included the Bata Shoe Museum, The CN Tower,  and the very cool Ontario College of Art and Design, seen from underneath.  It looks like it is being supported by pencils.

We also toured a honey farm, and an apple farm,

and spent several days at various beaches along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
And when my boyfriend brings my camera home (!!!)  I will post pictures of the Mustachios in their  "Canadian" outfits, and some of their souvenirs.
Okay, here they are. The Mustachios brought home some maple butter, and maple syrup wrapped in piglet fabric, some postcards, a "Canadian deer" bag that I made for BambiKhantastic, a scrapbook, and a felted flower corsage.
And a close up on their outfits. Has anyone else ever tried to dress a mustache before?  Maybe I don't want to know.
