1  California / California: North / Re: Looking to move to N.Cali HELP!? on: April 02, 2009 02:25:53 PM
I moved to SF from Michigan last May.  I definitely recommend SF.  What part of Michigan are you currently living in?  People complain about SF being so expensive but it's not as expensive as it seems.  For one there is absolutely no reason to own a car if you live in SF.  Public transit is super easy and super convenient.  So right there you are saving money on a car payment, car insurance, gas, repairs, parking, etc.  As far as apartments here go...you can get great deals if you check around.  I recommend craigslist for that.  You have to be comfortable living in a small space though.  Food can be expensive but there are plenty of cheap eats to be found.  San Francisco is an amazing city.  I never planned on leaving Michigan.  Until I visited a friend in SF.  I fell in love with the city.  There is so much to do here.

Super cute!  And amazingly cheap!  I'll have to keep an eye open for similar items!  Thanks for the idea!
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Slouch-a-long! on: February 19, 2009 02:48:46 PM
I'm brand new to this site (just joined today!)  And relatively new to knitting.  I love hats.  I've knit a couple of beanies in the past with moderate success.  I am self taught and don't know any knitters so I'm generally on my own.  I now know to look for knitting help on the web instead of just improvising or giving up!  I'm definitely making one of these slouchy berets!  I think I'll try the big blue beret.  Looks easy enough!
