1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / First "real" quilt how long will it take? on: January 24, 2011 04:50:44 PM
Hi Craftsters,
After seeing my friends quilt that she got from her aunt for university, it inspired me to make my self one. I am an avid sewer and have done 2 basic block quilts and want to try a beginner paper peicing pattern. The quilt is going to need to fit a dorm bed(which I assume is a twin).  How much time I should alot myself to ensure the quilt is done before the fall?
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Stuffing with rice... on: January 30, 2010 09:48:00 AM
Not sure if this is the right place for this so please feel free to move it.

I'm making a bowling set for my cousin and it says to stuff it with rice at the bottom to keep them upright.

I wanted to make them washable since the kids are little, I obviously cant stuff these with rice if I want them washable can I? Any suggestions of other house hold/craft things to keep them weighed down with that are washable?
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Camera case on: January 28, 2010 07:14:02 AM
I needed a case to keep my camera in when I went to England last year, I thought of buying one but if I bought a black one I might of forgot it somewhere so I went with bright yellow no way I could leave that at a table .
I did some basic, I guess you can call it quilting, with red thread

Inside(with pocket for an extra battery)

I got the tutorial off of this website, I think I might have found it here on craftster tho too.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Koolaid Purses, lined with fabric(img heavy) on: January 28, 2010 07:01:56 AM
Since I havent been on craftster in foverever, I've deceid to post some old projects. I made these awhile back but if you notice they dont have a juice pouch bottom but a fabric one. I looked at all the tutes here and everywhere else and it seemed to suggest that that was the hardest part Tongue so I decided against it. I made fabric linings for both purses.

This purse I made for a friend at school. I lined it with this weird matieral I got from my zia its like plasticy on one side and then lookes like fiber on the other(really awful description sorry Tongue)

This one I made for myself, its alittle larger.

I dont know if you can tell by the pictures but instead of doing a zig zag stictch I just did 2 or 3 straight ones for this bag
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My favourite sock monkey! (plus a few others) on: January 27, 2010 07:39:54 AM
Probably the best sock monkey I made! Made it for a friend for x-mas. His tail is shorter and skinner than the regular sock monkey but I like it.He even has a watch Tongue

The other two I made for my zia and zio(aunt/uncle) for christmas. I stitched their initatals into there chest as well.

Thanks for browsing!

Made this for a friends birthday gift along time ago. Cant remember where I got the tutorial from, but with a little help from my nonna(or grandma) it turned out pretty good considering it was an earlier project. The pockets are kinda on an angle but hey nothins perfect.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Boys(Or I guess mens) Boxers! on: January 26, 2010 06:14:29 PM
Made these for my boyfriend for Christmas. He loves polarbears and the Toronto Maple Leafs(unfortunatly). So what better fabric than polarbears playing hockey in TM jerseys? Made of nice cosy flannelette. They were a tiny bit short and the leg holes were kinda big but they turned out well. Got the tute from Threadbanger here: http://www.threadbanger.com/post/5657/how-to-make-boxers-from-old-pillowcases

And the pic Smiley

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Another t-shirt quilt(pic heavy) on: January 26, 2010 06:08:53 PM
This is a t-shirt quilt I made for my boyfriends birthday, he knew what it was because he told me to make it! But lets just say he loved it. His brother even asked him what store he got it from and that it looked professional!(hes not very observant of his brothers tshirts I guess)Now if thats not the best comment you can get I dont know what is Tongue
Onward to the pictures!

Here is the full quilt its HUGE fits on a queen sized bed.

This is a close up of a square I appliqued on. Its his earth name from a out door program we did(its Evergreen)You can also see the buttons(I LOVE BUTTONS!)

Close up of the corner so happy with how it turned out

All wrapped up

Thanks for looking

Hello Craftsters!

And a skirt simliar to this one

Any suggestions?
And btw why are dresses so damn expensive?
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My First Quilt on: February 19, 2009 02:23:06 PM
This was the first project we did in my Grade 11 fashion class. I hand stitched the border while everyone in my class got to do it on the machine, but I like the way it turned out.
