771  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Newbie here....neck warmer on: February 22, 2009 05:56:41 PM
Welcome to Craftster! I'm a newbie too. The neckwarmer's gorgeous. The colors make me think of autumn--maybe you could incorporate that into the name.
772  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Used gift cards on: February 19, 2009 07:59:12 PM
You could cut them up and make a mosaic with them like they did here:

Of course, if you're like me then you already have too many picture frames. I haven't tried this, but it looks pretty easy, and if I'll probably try it on a day when I'm looking for a quick project or gift.

I bet you could turn it into glasses for a doll somehow. Drill holes in the side to attach arms and paint the bottom of the case to be the lenses.
774  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My Excuse For a Cassette Tape Wallet on: February 19, 2009 04:38:21 PM
I originally saw this on Dollar Store Crafts, who linked Chezlin, who got the idea from here: http://www.designboom.com/shop/cassettewallet.html apparently. I've made three of them, and this is the least-sucky. I used e6000 on my first two. Besides giving me a headache, it leaves messy splotches of dried glue all over my tape and got into my zipper so it wouldn't zip anymore. I'm also having a hard time getting the zippers to match up. I used hot glue on this one, and even though its still not symmetrical, I'm going to use it for awhile to see how well the glue holds. I eventually want to make one for my teenage sister, but not until I have enough practice to make a nice one.
I used a 9 inch zipper and black felt on the inside. I love this tape, so I hope if the wallet falls apart I can reuse it. It has a bunch of kids songs on it like "This Old Man" and "Do Your Ears Hang Low." Maybe I should coat the outside with something so the words don't rub off.

I don't know how to take non-blurry pictures, apparently. My apologies.
775  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Abstract acrylic paints on canvas on: February 19, 2009 04:02:02 PM
This was my first painting ever. I probably painted it about three years ago. I used acrylic paints on canvas.
776  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / "I kiss better than I cook" painting for kitchen on: February 19, 2009 03:56:41 PM
I painted this with acrylics on canvas. I did it about two years ago for my kitchen.

I'm not completely happy with it, but I like the way it looks on top of my refrigerator.
777  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Acrylic painting on canvas of a Hookah on: February 19, 2009 03:53:19 PM
I did this about two years ago with acrylic paints on canvas. Its the only non-abstract thing I've painted and it isn't my favorite. It was for my husband and he loves it so I guess that's all that matters.

He does like to pick on me and ask me what a "hakooh" is though.
778  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitting loom adult hat on: February 19, 2009 03:43:41 PM
This is my third project using Knifty Knitter knitting looms. Hats are actually easier to make than scarves! I'm brand new to knitting (and to Craftster) so I didn't think to keep track of what kind of yarn this is. I used an e wrap stitch.

Action shot (Please excuse my grossness, I'm sick and unshowered):

I love the butt tray. I'm going to make one for my mom.
780  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Earring holder from starbucks display on: February 19, 2009 03:34:32 PM
Free stuff is the best. I like it.
