1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Handspun Hat on: February 08, 2007 09:31:24 PM
I spun up all my scrap fiber and didn't know how the yarn would turn out or how it would knit up-especially since it's a big mix of wool, angora, merino, mohair, hemp, and alpaca-but I really like how the colors blended together.  I based it off this pattern but modified it because my yarn wasn't as thick.... http://droppedstitches.blogspot.com/2004/11/two-movie-easy-knit-hat-pattern.html

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Citrus Yumminess on: February 08, 2007 09:14:27 PM
I have a newfound obsession with citrus essential oils, so I made these:

Citrus soap (lemon, orange, lime, and grapefruit EOs) and citrus lip balm (orange and litsea cubeba)

Vegan tangerine lip balm
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / herbal-y CP soaps on: January 19, 2007 10:09:05 PM
I've been making a lot of soap lately, all cold process:

geranium-rosemary with kelp powder

citrus chamomile

tangerine soap with paprika and turmeric for color

scrubby spiced oat bar-with ground oats, cinnamon, allspice, and scented with sage, orange, clove, and cinnamon EOs
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Boring. But oddly satisfying. on: July 31, 2006 03:44:47 PM

I spun this up fully intending to ply, but decided I liked it a lot as a single.  Then I decided to dye it some really bright colors, hated that, and kept overdying until I got this.  Clearly I'm having issues doing anything that I plan to do right now.  It's sort of boring yarn, but I like it anyway.
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Sweat Shop on: June 20, 2006 12:13:26 PM
I patched my wheel up and spun a bunch of stuff to swap.  It was my first time using wilton dyes-I was happy with how intense the colors were but am worried about the lightfast-ness-anyone have any experience with this?

The goods:

only the orange was done with kool-aid
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / blue green dream on: May 20, 2006 08:16:15 PM
I never make it on time for Friday.  I need to work on this.
Wool/mohair mill ends dyed in kool aid:

There are still some pink streaks from that blob of dye that they put in the wool mohair blend and it doesn't seem to want to come out.  Has this happened to anyone else?  In all the other wool I have used the pink dye washed right out of it.
7  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / A break from studying... on: April 29, 2006 04:02:27 PM
Finals are awful, so I've been spinning on my study breaks.  135 yards of merino...the same color as the peonies my neighbor had when I was growing up.

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / NH Sheep and Wool on: April 24, 2006 08:36:53 PM
Is anyone heading to this festival?  I've never been but figured anything with tons of fiber, sheepies, bunnies, and llamas couldn't be half bad.  http://www.yankeeshepherd.com/
Besides, maybe I can find something worthy of giving my madre for mothers' day...
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / There's a boy in paper clothes... on: April 15, 2006 10:30:08 PM
We celebrated earth week this week with a trashion show, this was my design, modeled by the boyfriend:

The shirt is made out of brown paper bags that I crumpled so they were soft, then sewn together, and the kilt is made out of woven magazine pages.  The sporran is an old electrical box with some salvaged wire.
And even if it does look awful, it was pretty fun to make him parade around on a catwalk in it.  Hehe.
10  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / cheetos and blue kool aid on: April 06, 2006 03:36:58 PM

Merino, 90 yards, blue plied with pink/orange/blue.
