1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / First knitting project (almost finished) on: October 22, 2009 02:31:41 PM
Hey everybody ^_^

This is my first knitting project. It only took me a few hours of determination. I think it's looking good... it's a neck wrap. Anyway I was trying to figure out how I should finish it off on the edges. I'm not fancying just leaving the raw edge. So I was playing around with ideas to finish it. I'm thinking about crocheting the edge and then steam blocking it to make it lay flat. I also thought about black satin bias tape but I think it takes away from the natural look. Does anyone know of some other finishing techniques that would look nice?

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Just made this coat from a recycled wool ^_^ on: October 10, 2009 11:41:24 PM
I made this coat the other day from a large shapeless wool reject I got at my local the thrift shop. Will post more pics when my camera battery finishes charging. I forgot to take pics of what it looked like before I revamped it but to give you an idea it was a men's large with no pockets or shoulder flaps. I basically used it for the wool! Nothing about the design was appealing except for the shoulder seams and armhole settings. I redid the collar for a more sculpted look, made it form fitted with darts, added the shoulder flaps and new buttons, hemmed it at a desirable length.

Can't post pics yet so here is the link
