1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Zombie gingerbread cookies on: October 23, 2014 09:44:13 PM
My son and I were wanting to make cookies for his class for Halloween next Friday, but didn't have any Halloween themed cutters (and the ones I did see at the shop didn't really look like the things they were supposed to be), so I had a think and came up with these.  I did instead have to buy mints and licorice ( I only used a little bit of the licorice, but I don't mind eating the rest - I love it!)  This batch got my son's thumbs up, so it's back to the kitchen next week to make fresh ones.  Luckily, they are very simple and cheap to make.

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Black and white cot quilt. on: September 20, 2014 05:17:39 PM
I don't consider myself a quilter by any means, and I look at all the wonderful pieces both here on Craftster and on the net and my mind absolutely BOGGLES at the talent and patience that quilters have.  Sadly, I have neither of those things when it comes to quilting.

However, I really wanted to make one for my friend's daughter who is having a baby shortly, and found some instructions online for a really easy one piece quilt (is that what you call them? I'm not sure).  She has furnished the baby's nursery in grey, so I made the quilt black and white, but the spotty pattern is quite bold.

More pics at http://maker-land.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/black-and-white-baby-quilt.html

It was really quite the most easiest quilt I think I could have made.  It's not perfect by any stretch, but it has made me feel I might want to explore the art of quilting further Smiley
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fun children's pendants (with link to tutorial) on: September 10, 2014 01:50:40 AM
My daughter and I made these friendly character pendants in an effort to get rid of some of my craft stash.  We still have a heap of beads and bells to get through and are looking forward to seeing what other characters we can come up with.  These are very simple and quick to string up, even for smaller hands (with some help, of course!).  They would also be fun as a keyring or bag charm and easy project the kids could make for teachers gifts or to sell at school or church fetes.

You can see more photos and get a quick how to here http://maker-land.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/childs-necklace-tutorial.html
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Tunic with optional wings on: September 05, 2014 12:58:57 AM
I'm making up my daughter's spring gear at the moment. As there are buttons down the back of this top, I had the idea to make some wings that could be taken on or off, as the mood takes her.  I really love the idea that she can have a load of wings and a load of tops or dresses and mix and match them, and it has loads of potential for different wing shapes, like butterflies or fairies, old fashioned floral, bold prints or plain neon fabrics, and themes, like Christmas angels or bats for Halloween.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Romper refashioned from old pants on: August 23, 2014 12:18:16 AM
I'm on a bit of a recycling bent at the moment.  I made this romper for my toddler daughter from a discounted pair of pants using an old vintage pattern that needed a bit of adjustment.

There are more pics (including the original pants that I used, horrible things!) here  http://maker-land.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/pants-upcycle.html
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Deer girl on: August 16, 2014 11:22:22 PM
Thank  you!  Yep, I'm a sucker for bloomers.  Wink
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Men's shirt into girl's blouse on: August 16, 2014 02:54:10 AM
I made this blouse from a pattern in a Japanese sewing book, and used a man's shirt that I bought from a second hand store.  I *love* how girly it is - I'm sure I will be making one or two more  Smiley

More photos and a look at the original men's shirt here http://maker-land.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/mens-shirt-refashion.html
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Deer girl on: August 09, 2014 01:56:49 AM
This little girl was a joy to make.  She is inspired by my love of old theatre, costuming and forest animals.  She makes me so happy! <3

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Foo Fighters t-shirt re-size on: June 25, 2014 01:44:14 AM
Purchased at the local Salvation Army shop for a couple of dollars, I was going to refit this for my nine year old, but he is sadly getting too big.  So my three year old daughter scored it instead. I made up some tartan bloomers to go with it.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Child's hat from upcycled sweater on: May 29, 2014 11:52:33 PM
I'm drafting up a pattern for a new child's hat and tried it out on a sweater I found at a local thrift store.  The straps are made from the remnants of an old t-shirt.

I'm going to have another go, it's a bit slouchy up top for my liking  Smiley
