That's a huge blanket! The camouflage effect is great.
I made him a fleece blanket of his favorite team some years back, but it wasn't big enough to cover him if he was sitting down on the chair! I've been promising him a new big blanket for years now, lol!

I like the pattern the variegated yarn created!
Thanks! You can definitely see all the cables in person, but the color doesn't show the pattern so well in a photo. The yarn did create a fun pattern though!

I claim Averia for a crocheted hoopla!

Hi, Im Valarie, and I live in California (USA) with my husband, my daughter Lily, and sometime around February 10th my other daughter Willow. I am Allergic to nickel based earrings, love to crochet, getting better at sewing, and do some occasional papercrafting. I am an English lit major, but am off from school until September. I love to read and write. My daughter just got an American Girl Doll (Marie Grace) for Christmas, and we would love anything that is made for an 18 inch doll. For myself, I tend to run a bit on the mystical nerdy side, Doctor Who, Buffy, Harry Potter, witches, werewolves, ghosts, etc.

Favorite Colors: I am a color person! Not much I do not like. My house is a lot of oceaning blues and greens, and tan. With the girls I tend to lean more towards purple and pretty blues rather than a ton of pink, but pink is still good!

Yuck colors: Navy Blue, I have a hard time distinguishing it from black and because of that it makes me mad, lol.

My pinterest is: http://www.pinterest.com/pixieval/
I love surprises, so it doesnt have to be on my list. Something inspired by my list or my pinterest is awesome!

When a friend of mine was offering up loads of camouflage yarn that she had in her stash for over 8 years for free, I jumped on that. My husband is a hunter and loves camouflage, and I have been promising him a decent sized blanket for years. He is holding up the blanket in the first picture, and he is 5 foot 11 so I think the blanket is an easy 6 feet tall. It was a project of love that I worked on since the summer whenever I had crochet time and he was not around, it was a Christmas surprise, and Id say he was pretty happy!
I have a hard time picking up the detail with the variegated yarn, but Red Heart in the pattern link uses a solid color and you can see the detail better on theirs. This was a super easy pattern that was easy to watch TV and listen to books on tape or talk with friends while you make it.

He is holding the blanket up in this picture

The yarn was all Red Heart Super Saver, and after I finished making the blanket I ended up rubbing conditioner into the whole thing and running it through the washer a few times (without soap) to get it nice and soft and cuddly.
I used this pattern:

Very pretty! My mom recently gave me a necklace with this saying on it, and it is so true.

Fantastic job! My favorite is the orange one, I've thought about making that pattern before, but it looks so time consuming. Is it not?

I joined OWS100 and have decided I will not claim anyone unless I have the supplies to make the craft I claim them for first. Well, I've used up 2 skeins of yarn, and a tad of another skein, and even got rid of some paper supplies. yay!

That's a great idea! I know I can't stick to that sort of thing rigidly, but I am attempting to claim people for items I already have the supplies for if possible. It's hard when they have something cute that I know how to make but I don't have some of the supplies for. If it's a cute kid item, I justify it by making one for my son at the same time. :p
Good and clever idea to make one for your son at the same time!
