1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Some awesome hats I made! Cthulhu, shark, and more on: November 05, 2014 11:26:08 AM

I am super proud of this one, I made it up completely on my own, the first time I have ever done so for something crocheted! My sweet hubby works at an elementary school, and crazy hat day was a Wednesday. That Monday, he shyly said "I need a hat for crazy hat day...and I want the elder god Cthulhu. But not cutesy. With wings. Oh, and ear flaps." lol. I think I got his requests covered!

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Disney Family on: November 05, 2014 09:00:02 AM

I was a Mouseketeer, hubby was Walt Disney, my littlest was Daisy Duck, and my eldest was Minnie Mouse. Each costume had something handmade!

Daisy had a crocheted hat and white tutu made by me, a purple onesie with a bow added, and white bloomers. Of course, it got cold (for Florida) and we had to cover up half of it for some of the pics. My Mouseketeer was almost completely handmade. The blouse is the bow-tie blouse from Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing with my name sewn on. The skirt is a vintage circle skirt pattern. Yes, I tried to stay vintage! The only part I didn't make myself was the hat, but I did add a big crocheted red bow to make it more fun. Hubby's Walt had the least crafted, and it was the nametag that he made himself and was so proud. He shaved just for the occasion too

My pride and joy of this theme is the Minnie Mouse dress. I drafted this pattern myself! The first time ever I did something sewn without a pattern, and I am so proud of it! I used a shirt that fit her well and traced it to make the bodice. The back has elastic to make it grow with her longer. The straps have wire in the sides to make them keep their shape well, and the ribbon for that and the ties was actually leftover from our wedding, so it's extra special. The bottom is a pink lining and pink tulle with a TON of hand sewn little felt polka dots. Those took forever! She adores it and cries when we take it off! The ears are an old headband from build-a-bear that I tore down to the ears and bow, then attached them to big hair clips, so it is really three separate pieces. This was a great idea, because my daughter hates, and I mean HATES, things in her hair or on her head. I can barely put her hair in a ponytail without her throwing a fit. But I put these in, and she pranced around like she knew how pretty she looked hehe. She shocked me by asking to wear them just yesterday.

We loved our costumes so much that we went to Disney the day after Halloween and wore them there as well!
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Cat in graphite on: November 05, 2014 08:38:23 AM

Graphite and bristol board. Sorry for the horrible camera quality, I had to use my web cam!
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Marilyn Monroe, "Seduced by a Good book" on: April 16, 2013 08:06:56 AM

14x17 graphite drawing of Marilyn Monroe. I was searching for inspiration by looking for women reading, and was happily surprised by how many were of Marilyn! I may just do an entire series of her reading, or of people reading in general. My favorite part, and the most challenging, was the books on the shelf behind her. I felt like I was in a library as I worked on it, and kept wanting to whisper!

I am going to use a local business to make prints of this, I think it would also make a very cute and fitting bookmark!

What should I draw next?
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Audrey Hepburn on: March 22, 2013 07:35:21 PM

Audrey Hepburn, 14x17 Graphite Drawing

I just saw Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time the other day, and now I finally understand the allure of Audrey Hepburn. What an elegant yet fun woman! I just had to draw her!
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Doctor Who, Stetsons are Cool on: March 16, 2013 07:54:49 AM

Inspired by Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor. I just had to draw this scene, there is so much emotion, and the shadows were a delightful challenge!
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cigar Box Purse with pinup witches! on: August 10, 2011 11:46:45 AM
I am so happy with this purse I made! My boyfriend makes guitars out of cigar boxes, and I always felt there needed to be something for the girlie girls like me to make from them.

I love Gil Elvgren, so I used photos of his that made me think of Halloween.
Sadly, I've been lurking too long and not posted enough to post the actual pictures here, but the links should work.
This is the inside:

And this is the back:

I've got more where the smaller pictures double as an ID wallet Smiley SO much fun to make, and the boyfriend even helped!
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Just finished my store! Opinions please? on: August 07, 2011 08:31:37 AM
I finally started a store with storenvy. I've got six items up so far, and wasn't sure if it is too plain. Thank you!
