11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Love of paper and glue on: May 17, 2011 01:03:09 PM
Me again!  So I've been spring cleaning and trying to get rid of some items.   And whilst digging around some stuff I found this shelf I had bought a while ago.  This shelf's life always seemed to be changing, first it was going to be sold, then I kept it, decided I'd paint it old rustic crackle style and sanded that off, and decided I'd attack it with paper.  Needless to say it's life isn't over and I can't wait to get rid of more stuff so that I can use the shelf for different purposes. Smiley

The backing had to be remade because the original disappeared amidst me moving across states. So I grabbed some cardboard I had lying around and paper

After lots of paper and glue finished and hanging up!

Closer looks:

And this beauty is on one of the sides of the Shelf

12  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Revamped Coat rack ala French style on: May 16, 2011 07:33:37 PM
So I'm telling you now, I forgot to take before pictures, instead opting for the crazy scissors glue mess and got to work before thinking of taking photos.  But trust me when i say that the before picture of this one large tile coat hook had seen better days.  The picture of New York City on it faded away to almost nothing.

So I decided to take a bunch of paper, stickers, and raised embellishments and go ala ATC style on it.  Then sealed it with 3d crystal lacquer

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Anthropologie eat your heart out drawer pulls on: May 12, 2011 05:30:47 PM
The Anthropologie I used to frequent all the time had one area of their store I always loved to visit.  Their drawer pull section, I was a sucker for those cute little things even if I had not plan for them at the moment.  Well in my long slightly condensed words I came across a few blank drawer pulls and well I thought I'd make my own. Some pictures, lacquer and patience Voila!  Warning a bit picture heavy!

All I can say is they are addictive to make, literally and I am on a rampage to find more Cheesy
14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Let's steal a swap, Leverage Swap Idea on: May 09, 2011 01:06:31 PM

I've heard from my sources that TNT's show Leverage is coming back this June, June 26th to be exact!  And to celebrate new cons I figured why not a swap?

Anyone interested in a Leverage Swap? It'll be a big one, 5 points with at least a large and medium.

If there's enough interest I figure maybe Start it at the end of this week? (maybe May 13th)  Sign up's will go until the 20 and the send out date will be June 20th.  So we can receive all said goodies in a timely manner to watch the first episode of the fourth season.

I got so excited i forgot to put that things that could be crafted would be like Id badges, shirts, hats etc.
What say you crew?
15  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Tangled butterflies boxes large pictures on: February 05, 2011 04:35:53 PM
I've recently gotten into redecorating boxes, and had a few on had, with some paint, glue and other finds I came up with these two little beauts!   These two aren't huge boxes they average about 2 x 2.75 x 3.75 and   2 x 3.25 and is just over an inch deep for both of them.
First off Butterfly Promises

and the top of the box, the butterfly is about an inch long

This one took a bit more work, with the painting and having to lacquer and what not.  That is a real vintage photo I had amongst my stash of bits and bobs.  The frame around the photo is an necklace pendant that I revamped to fit the photo. The photos:

Tangled Wishes, the pendant is 2 and a half inches in length

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Handmade pendants and a sad butterfly (large pictures!) on: February 05, 2011 04:24:01 PM
So yet again a long time since posting, I just keep hoping they will invent a will thought induce post so I don't keep forgetting.  One day.  alas!

Anywho one day while looking around at all my supplies I found some clay and I thought why not make some new items?

First off a lovely little owl with violet swarovski eyes.

and as a little quirk I wanted to be able to remove the feather and leaf addition below it.  So I attached a lobster clasp so I can take it off whenever I want and you can just see the small swarovski dangles.  (they are kinda hidden in the shadow of the owl)

Another is a mask inspired by masquerade masks.  And as of late I have seen some really cool masks and wanted a rather small one for myself with added swarovski drops

And last but not least this necklace was inspired by a pair of earrings I saw on a tv show.  It reminds me off waterfalls but it has now been named the weeping butterfly Smiley

18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Scrabble Tile Pendant conundrum! on: October 16, 2010 11:40:23 AM
I recently bought some pictures that I love and would adore to make them into scrabble tile Pendants the thing is the pictures are already laminated, would you just glue them into place on the tile and forget the diamond glaze? Or would you put the glaze over the laminate to keep it into place?

Anyone else run into something like this?
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitting a blanket question on: October 04, 2010 04:34:17 PM
Since I couldn't find a pattern for a giant bed blanket I decided to knit my own design of evil blanket. ok not really evil but I can say it is Smiley my question is after pouring over countless patterns of blankets why are the majority of blankets knit in a square? why not say knit a scarf and then sew it together with a bunch of other scarves?  Is there some unknown rule, besides getting bored, that I don't know about?  I'm curious to see answers!
