1  Re: Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 30 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by zcrafter on: November 26, 2019 10:14:53 AM
We took Echo to the Allegheny National Fish Hatchery so she could get a stamp in her Blue Goose Passport book. It was quite an adventure. We got semi-lost a few times, as the hatchery is in the middle of nowhere near Warren, PA.

When we finally found it, Echo posed on the sign so she could prove she was actually there:

The place was deserted. Doors locked, no one in sight, no cars! But since we really wanted to get Echo's book stamped, we snooped around and found a back door that was open. (Cue scary music.) Inside, there were desks, hallways, but no people. We did find some small tattoo stickers and some interesting signs:

Echo read all the signs carefully, as she is quite concerned about the future of all fish species.

Once inside the lobby area, we grabbed some free flyers and then realized we had locked ourselves in! OH NO! And there was no stamp that we could use in Echo's book. Fortunately we snooped some more and found a door that opened to the outside. WHEW!

After all this, we were freezing from walking around outside but never saw any fish or anything that looked like a hatching area. There were some domed buildings that were also locked. Maybe the fishies were safely tucked away in there?

I'm sure our entire visit is recorded on security footage somewhere. If I go to jail, I will plead TLV30.   Wink   Roll Eyes   Cry

Echo and I visited Peak n Peek Ski Resort in Clymer, NY for their fall festival. SO many people and so much to enjoy!

As we were parking the car, Echo caught a glimpse of the horse-drawn carriage and insisted we take a ride on it:

The carriage driver helped her pose for this picture:

From a second floor deck, we looked down on this pretty scene where a flower vendor was displaying their products:

We stayed overnight at Findley Lake NY, where Echo dreamed of going for a swim:

We were lucky to get some travel in before the winter weather hit.

Echo went with me to the Tionesta Market Village in Tionesta, PA.

We watched the kids all decked out for a costume contest:

The clogging group I belong to performed. These two ladies did a duet dance:

And of course the autumn leaves were beautiful on the way:

We took Echo for an outing at Clear Creek State Park, PA. We walked a country road and some trails.

Right away, she spotted this sign, and she was all about the BEACH! However, that small river beach is closed right now. Small disappointment, but doesn't she look cute?

She enjoyed looking up at all the colored leaves. The color has pretty much peaked in this area, but we've had a lot of rain, so it isn't the most spectacular autumn we've ever had.

And of course, hiding in the leaves is always fun:

What a great, chatty gallery we have already!

Echo arrived yesterday, with her own traveling pouch and a blue goose Passport that we can get stamped when she (hopefully) gets to visit wildlife refuges around the area.

Our first activity together was coloring an ocean life page. I showed her how by coloring some waves and then let her try her "hand." She did have a bit of trouble holding the pencil with her fin, but look what a great job she did. She says the fish is a self portrait.

Lots of adventures in store!

Perri is adorable!

I just sent in my questionnaire. Flobot will be traveling again. She's quacking for joy! Here she is meeting a new ducky friend on her last TLV trip:

Flobot has returned from North Carolina, and what great adventures she had! Look at all the goodies: a new platypus friend, a dinosaur friend, beach stones, a good-luck-mini duck, seashells, her own cosplay box with a steampunk hat, and even a toy for our dog Brooke!

She now has her own backpack, designed and sewn by WingsoftheWind:

and inside the backpack was this beach stone:

Her scrapbook has all kinds of memories, from Kure Beach to state parks to sewing and a Spiderman movie. (Please excuse the blurry, glarey picture.)

There's even a section filled with postcards:

Thank you for being such a terrific hostess, WingsoftheWind!

Orenji went with me to one of my clogging lessons. Of course, I made him some clogging shoes, complete with "taps":

He watched over my water bottle:

The clogging steps were pretty tricky for his stiff little legs, but he had fun watching:

He'll be one his way home soon, so he's all bittersweet about that.

We saw a local production of The Wizard of Oz at the Sawmill Theater in Cooksburg, PA. It's a very rustic, in-the-round kind of theater. They had some basic sets:

No photos allowed during the play, but afterward, the cast members came out and greeted us. The Cowardly Lion said, "Oh, is this something like Flat Stanley?"

And of course, the requisite shot with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion:

Orenji said it was his first live theater experience.
