11  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Demon Diary Amigurumi on: May 13, 2009 02:07:31 PM

So, for my best friend's birthday I decided to make her another little amigurumi doll from the only manga I've forced her to read that she adored: Demon Diary. So here's a little Raenef and Eclipse! I wish the pic was better of Ecplise because I think I did a bang up job on his hair, the camera just sucks. I hand made his earring (which you can't see), fixed his hair in place so it has that wonderful manwha style disarray (which you can't see), and his apron says "Kitchen Wench" (which you CAN see). Raenef turned out better than planned with his doofy wide-eyed open mouthed stare he's so famous for! They also have magnets in their butts to keep them standing up straight on metal surfaces, otherwise they're too top heavy with all that hair!

14  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / NomNom Hat (img heavy...) on: February 20, 2009 09:57:42 PM
So, because the Sooba hat for my little amigurumi Cale was so darn cute I maded meself a full sized Sooba NomNom Hat. I suppose it could be a generic "Big Animal Biting Your Head" beanie, but this was specifically made as the Looking For Group panther familiar, (lets say it one more time lol) Sooba.

Le Flat

Grin Now with realistic nomming action!! Grin

Le Side

Le Front  I'm trying not to look happy about the panther eating my skull...

I had fun making this hat (even though it eventually made my fingers bleed). It gives me warm fuzzies. The teeth try to blind me, but that's okay, I suppose! But I sorta feel like I should be wearing a fluffy whitish wig and speaking to woodland creatures...  Cheesy

Hallo there! Fellow Tucsonan looking to help you out a little! There's a place I could recommend for the spinning wheel (I asked a friend and she told me about it, I personally don't know much about making yarn...)

Grandma's Spinning Wheel on Tanque Verde:

Also, you might want to check out the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild. They might have some resources (again reccommended by my friend):

As for looking fro used books and equpiment, have you tried the Tanque Verde Swapmeet? I mean, it's a long shot, but you never know what you might find! Spinning wheels might be there! Maybe even books! And if money is an issue I'd check the public libraries for crochet books. I know I've seen Creepy Cute at the Columbus branch. I actually lucked out and found my own copy of Creepy Cute at Bookman's, but they seem to lack any amount of crochet books.

Hope that helps!

18  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi LFG Cale'Anon the Elf on: February 12, 2009 09:13:38 AM
Alrighty, in going with my Looking for Group theme I decided that Richard needed a Cale to torment! So, here he is! Amugurumi Cale'Anon, the worst blood-elf these ever was, of course with spiffy accessories! ^_^ Again, I gave him detatchable arms (mostly for Richard's amusement as he will surely make himself an Elflock in the near future) and made his hair out of feathers! He always struck me as a little too fluffy for his own good anyway! Grin I used pipe cleaners for the eyebrows (since in the comic they stick out so darn far and are only lines after a while). The cloak was a pain in the butt simply because the pauldrons were so darned finicky. Angry I used the same head and body patterns as Creepy Cute Crochet, but everything else is the product of a lot of trial and error.  This one is a more typical chibi amigurumi.

Typical Cale in his herioc garb. Cue epic music.

Cale and his cloak

Cale is constantly loved on by an over-eager troll named Tim, who affectionately calls him CHICKEN!!!!

Your chicken is in danger! Save the chicken, Tim!

Our failure of a blood-elf also has a gorgeous panther familiar by the name of Sooba who, instead of attacking Cale's enemies, seems to very much like nomming on Cale himself.

Sooba can has elf?

Awesome sauce! XD

HAHAHAHA!! I love it!! Isn't that book just great?! I did the ninja, too...but I gave up on the throwing star because it was making me mad! Did you use the instructions for the fringe hair for the zombie? I just don't get how to do it...
