1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Woven Felted Wool and Denim Purse on: November 15, 2010 02:43:47 PM

Hi everybody,

I thought I'd share this purse I made this past weekend from repurposed materials. I used denim for the base fabric of the purse, as well as the strap, and I used strips of wool felted sweater scraps for the front of the purse. I lined it with a cotton muslin fabric that I had tie-dyed a couple summers ago.

I really like the way it turned out. I had this idea in my head for the longest time and finally got around to making it. I posted a tutorial on my blog if you'd like to see how I made it.

I'd love to know what you guys think!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Autumn Leaf Felted Scarf on: September 27, 2010 08:25:46 PM

I finished this scarf tonight and I am really happy with it. It is made from leftover felted sweater scraps. Its a great project to use up those scraps because you want your leaves to be several different colors. I machine stitched the leaves and acorns together, and then added detail to it by "sketching" with the sewing machine. I love the messy, sketchy look that it has.

If you would like to see how I made it, I have the full tutorial on my blog: http://refashionology.com/?p=363
Please do let me know what you think and if anybody makes one, please let me know and post your photos! I'd love to see other variations on this idea!

Happy crafting!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Peaches & Heidi get refashioned team shirts! on: September 18, 2010 03:52:48 PM

Well, its college football Saturday, and Peaches the Pomeranian Princess and Heidi the MinPin insisted that they needed to support their team. So I made them these cute shirts. Peaches' shirt was made from a man's t-shirt and a remnant of cute blue fabric I got for 40 cents at the thrift store! It has a print of doggies and kitties on it and is super cute. Heidi's striped polo shirt is a child's 3T shirt that just needed to be taken in down the front to fit her. Really easy. I think they look really adorable.

I have a tutorial on my blog if you'd like more details on how I made them. http://refashionology.com/?p=329
Maybe your doggie would like to support your favorite team?

Thanks for looking!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Upcycled Denim & Felted Wool Christmas Stocking on: September 15, 2010 10:16:29 PM
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share this project I made today. I used a pattern from a 70's craft magazine for a Christmas stocking made of recycled denim, and sort of put my own spin on it. I embellished it with scraps of felted wool sweaters. I am really happy with how it turned out.

This shows the detail of the felted wool spirals I sewed on with embroidery floss. I added a bead to each end of the spiral.

What do you think? I have posted a tutorial on my blog if anyone would like to try making one: http://refashionology.com/?p=324
It was simple, I made it in one evening!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Got felted sweater scraps? Make a scarf! on: September 12, 2010 08:26:19 PM

Recently, I looked in my felted sweater stash and realized I had a whole lot of little scraps. What to do with them? I made this scarf tonight, and it was really quick and easy. I have the tutorial on my blog if you want to make one: http://refashionology.com/?p=297

I have plans to make more in lots of different colors. I thought they would make nice gifts for the holidays. What do you think?
Thanks for looking,

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I refashioned a sweater into a scarf! on: September 09, 2010 09:21:06 PM
Hi all,

I wanted to share my latest refashion idea. I love the colors in this sweater, but it no longer fit me. So I decided to refashion it into a scarf. I was thinking of making it for a gift, but I love the way it turned out, so I'm keeping it for myself!

I cut it apart like this:

And it ended up like this:

If you'd like to make one too, I have the tutorial on my blog: http://refashionology.com/?p=282

What do you think?

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I made an apron from a vintage pillowcase! on: August 14, 2010 09:03:09 PM
I've been apron obsessed lately, and I wanted to share my latest refashion. I found some great vintage pillowcases at the thrift store, so I decided to refashion them into aprons.

I fell in love with the colors of the pillowcase and it was a print I kind of remember from the 70's. I thought it would make a cute apron. I added a pocket with some embroidery and a vintage button detail.

Here are some others I made recently:

They were super easy and very quick. I have a tutorial on my blog if anyone would like to know how I made them!
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Animal Crossing themed Christmas ornaments! on: December 25, 2009 06:51:24 PM
My partner and I make each other a Christmas ornament every year to sort of mark the year we spent together. This past year, we had a great time playing Animal Crossing City Folk together. Without either of us knowing the other was doing it, we both made each other an Animal Crossing themed ornament! I thought I'd share, since it was so hard to find anything online that was an Animal Crossing themed craft.

Here's the one that I made for her:

I found the crossstitch pattern for KK Slider here: http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18

and this is the back:

Here's what she made for me:

and the back:

She attached ribbons to the bottom with pics of all of our town's residents. We'll always remember this year as our Animal Crossing year!
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / A Sweet New Sweater for Peaches! on: February 09, 2009 09:48:06 PM
I saw this blog post on Craft Stylish http://www.craftstylish.com/item/40669/how-to-make-a-recycled-dog-sweater showing how to make a recycled dog sweater. Of course, they mean the sweater is recycled, not the dog...  Cheesy

Anyhow, I made this sweater for my pomeranian Peaches from 2 recycled felted wool sweaters.

She licked the camera lens during the photo shoot!
Next, I'll make one for my other doggie, Heidi.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Heidi's Felted Sweater Pillow on: January 19, 2009 09:30:52 PM

I decided to make a new pillow yesterday for our Min-Pin Heidi. She is crated when we're not home, so I like to make sure she's comfy. I used scraps from 2 recycled felted sweaters for the pillow. When I took the picture, I was trying to get her to lay on it, but I think she was more concerned with the camera. I think she likes it, though... Smiley   Kathleen

UPDATE: If anyone is interested, I have posted a tutorial for this on my blog.  http://sewing-green.blogspot.com/2009/01/recycled-felted-wool-pillow-for-heidi.html
