1  Re: Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Part II GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by PirateColey on: July 15, 2011 12:31:04 PM
Love love LOVE the Celtic know DH symbol! How clever!

I laughed, I cried, I ate licorice wands - the premiere was awesome! I'm all nostalgic, though. When's the next HP swap?  Cheesy

That pretty much summed up my night too! We spent 4+ hours in line, made new friends, ate an ungodly amount of Potter food... And balled our eyes out. I was a little miffed over Voldy turning in to confetti when he died... but other wise, think they did a MARVELOUS job. This might be my favorite film of the franchisee. I can't wait to see it again Tuesday with sheepBlue.  Grin

Here's me on my way to the premiere. LOVE the yellow eye make-up I received in this swap. It looked awesome (even if it's a semi-crappy pic).

Seeing everyone elses costumes at the theater gave me lots of new ideas. I'm ready for another swap!!

I received from ZombriNation today. Her owl must have had a rocket-pack to get here so quickly.

There was a Hufflepuff Quidditch t-shirt (I am WAY to uncoordinated to be playing any sports... I broke my arm kicking a beach ball...), a banner, some store-bought candy, a glow-in-the-dark wand (that will be fun at the premier), and a notebook (she hand wrote/drew facts about magical critters, Hufflepuffs, and the HP movies).

Next photo shows a plushie of Cedric... there's also a close-up of one of the pages from the notebook, as well as a pair of earrings. And yellow/black eye shadow (which I'll have to play with and figure out how to wear).

Thanks ZombriNation!

3  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 5 - Color Spectrum Gallery!! (Send 6/6/11) in The Swap Gallery by PirateColey on: June 09, 2011 02:02:59 PM
I received from the lovely fiorinda today. She used the color brown to stitch me up this adorable hedgie named Mumford. Doesn't the name suit him perfectly?! This was her first time using felt... she should totally continue to use it, because her work is beautiful.

Thanks, fiorinda- I love him!!

I received the other day from malkavian6. I finally got to move back in to my appartment today (we were displaced for 16 days due to flooding), so I am able to post a picture. She chose my "mystical creatures" theme and made me this lovely mermaid. I'm really torn though... part of me wants to put her on my hoopla wall... part of me wants to hang her in my mermaid themed bedroom.  Grin

Here's my great Potter hoopla from sheepBlue:

Oh- there are glittery bits around the wand that don't show up in the picture...

Seriously- sheepBlue is my new best friend. I love her to bits, because she's geeky and adorible. We're going to set my husband and her boyfriend up on a man-date.

Here we are, with our new hooplas, looking cute. Smiley

Thank you again, Emma! It looks totally awesome on my wall!! We'll have to get together again when we both have the whole day free.

6  Record cabinet to paper cart in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by PirateColey on: May 07, 2011 06:55:48 PM
I've been wanting something to store my scrapbook paper in, but those big fancy plastic-drawer-thingies are expensive!! So... I made this:

It started it's life as an old cabinet for storing records in the 70s. Yeah... it's not real wood... and this picture was taken AFTER I scrubbed the whole thing out with Clorox... because there was something living in there...

Because it wasn't real wood, I couldn't get any paint to stick to it and look nice... so I picked out some paper that matched my craft room and decoupaged the sides of the cart. (the dark area in the middle is part of the paper design- it just photographed weird).

Then I made a new knob out of Fimo and a cushion for the top (partly to hide where I tried to paint it).

Why a cushion for the top? That's two less cats who are trying to sleep on my desk while I work.

I really love the way it turned out and since records are slightly larger then 12x12 paper, everything fits really well. There were enough shelves that I could organize my paper by color and theme. Smiley

Best part- the whole thing cost under 10$... which is a whole lot less then the store bough storage units.

7  Re: Character Dotee Swap - Gallery - Send Out Fri. 4/22/11 in The Swap Gallery by PirateColey on: May 07, 2011 06:35:42 PM
I received my final Dotee... and the package was MANGLED. Seriously- I was convinced there was no way my new Dotee survived the trip in one piece. When I opened the package this little guy fell out... and immediately popped back into shape! I guess it's a good thing that Goombas are used to being squashed!

Oh- and here are the ones I sent...

8  Glee - Pavarotti - embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by PirateColey on: April 26, 2011 12:06:04 PM
Okay... so I'm a total Gleek and really wanted to stitch something up while I was waiting on tonight's new episode. But I didn't want to do anything that SCREAMED 'Glee'. So I stitched up this little good-bye to Pavarotti... because 'Original Songs' was an AMAZING episode. Smiley

The bird/cage image I found for free online and free-handed it on the fabric. I watched two movies while I was stitching, so it didn't take long to do. The flash made the yellow super-bright... it's actually a little more subtle. Smiley

As always- constructive criticism is always welcome... I'm still learning here. Smiley

9  Re: A Very Potter Musical Gallery in The Swap Gallery by PirateColey on: April 23, 2011 08:55:42 AM
Oh, My. Rowling.

I received from Lilak Tygress and I swear... I dunno... I'm going to Facebook stalk her or something, because she's now, officially, my hero. Seriously- I haven't had this much fun with a swap/partner in ages. Warning- this post is photo-heavy.

There were some Red Vines in the package, but they've already been stolen and devoured. There were also cute/funny notes on everything... but I forgot to take pictures before I removed them from everything. I was a little excited.

I don't even know where to begin, everything was so boss.  Cheesy The first thing I puled out of the box was a cookie jar (that I think I'm going to use to hold my swap money)... ACCIO DOUBLESTUFF! It was filled with Oreo shaped dog cookies, which Eevee was more than happy to run off with.

Next, I found a selection of AVPM badges and a pirate owl wallet... which has nothing to do this this swap, and everything to do with the fact that Lacy is totally awesome.

Some of the badges were inside Helga Hufflepuff's wand box. The inside looks just as amazing and says "What the hell is a Hufflepuff?".

Here is the rocketship (driven by Draco) that was supposed to be attached to the box... the post people made her put it in the box. I'm going to sticky-tack it to the wall above my craft desk so I can giggle at it daily. Seriously- this is the best sort of cheese.  Grin

Next is a coat for Eevee... she'll be the best dressed Deatheater in the dog park next winter!! I tried to get an action shot, but she was more interested in her Oreos...

Then, Lacy blew my freakin' mind with a Marauder's Map crochet hook roll... straight from my wists. I seriously almost peed myself when I saw this. Her mom even donated some hooks. Lacy- you need to make a post for this thing, because everyone needs to see the details and how TOTALLY AWESOME it is. Seriously.

Then there was an AVPM tank... in my very favorite color to wear. I'll be so happy when it finally gets above 45* here so I can wear it!!

Okay. I'm not really sure what to say about this item. It's a boss Zefron pet bed. Seriously?! This thing is magic-cool! I've placed it where the cats sleep in my craft room and will try to ninja an action shot once they discover it. Do you see the rainbow glitter?! My poor husband is mortified that we have anything with Zefron on it in our house now...  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

This is my second tank... and the item that Lacy is also making herself (yay twinsies!). I am CRAZY in love with this thing. The design, the colors, the text... Oh my wizard god, it's amazing!

And finally... my very own Scarfy!! And yes, he's a puppet scarf. And yes, this action shot it actually what I'm wearing around in 45* rainy, Michigan weather. And no, I really don't care how insane I look. See- this package was so perfect that it actually gets an action shot.

And now I'm off to take my husband to the computer store... and I'll be sure to embarriss him fully by blasting my soundtracks the whole way there... and by using Scarfy to declare the sexual preferences of all the store clerks. And maybe next time he won't make me go with him...  Roll Eyes

10  "Always" Harry Potter hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by PirateColey on: April 21, 2011 04:41:43 PM
Okay... so I got some of that fancy pearly thread and I've been wanting to do a HP themed hoop for ages now... So, here is my Snape's Patronus hoopla. The doe itself is in a subtlety variegated blue, the "magic-y" bits are all in a slightly lighter pearl blue. I'm guessing it took around 15 hours over three days. The colors look a little faded in the picture- they're really pretty close to the colors from the movies... It's not perfect, but I'm still rather geeked about it. Also- if I ever decide to use so much pearl/metallic again, someone should slap me. Total PITA.  Cheesy

Two pictures, because I can't decide which one is better... neither are great. lol.

Oh- the design is based on a tattoo I saw somewhere.

CC is always welcome. Smiley
