1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / "blood t-shirt" on: March 13, 2010 11:42:48 AM
i don't know if this belongs here but i don't know where else to put this...
so this band i adore made those t-shirts with the band's name written in their blood on it.
now of course i want to wear it but i'm worried that if i wash it, the blood will come off. even if i wash it cold.
does anybody have any ideas on what i could do to "seal" the blood? or any experience with blood stains on t-shirts?
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 41 ENTRIES / knitted stuffies served cold (image heavy) on: August 04, 2009 01:20:02 PM
This is my first challenge. I spent 3 hours making these and nothing turned out as I had planned and at the moment I'm not really sure if I like the end result or not. I guess I like them.

This is everything I used (butter cream, chocolate milk and "petit beurre" cookies):

The cookies took a bath in chocolate milk and then formed the inside of my stuffies. The butter cream was used to make them stick.
I made three stuffies.

Cat (it was supposed to be a dead cat but I don't think it lookes very dead?):

and also 3 balls of wool (its really hard to form balls using rectangular cookies !) :

a group shot:

and this is how the kitchen looked afterwards Wink

then I dyed my butter cream (one color for each stuffie):

I dont really like the colors but I forgot to buy new ones so I had to use what I had on hand. the cream didnt mix very well with the color. I think its because of the butter.

so now we get to the point where things didnt work out as planned.  I blame summer.
I knitted them. I was going to draw the structure the wool would have if these were really knitted on BUT the cream was too soft which is because its too warm and also the cream didnt want to stay where I put it which is also due to the weather.

I forgot to take a picture of my chocolate knitting needles and stitches after I made them. I just drew them onto paper and put them in the fridge.
I used the stiches to sew on the eyes and ears and the dinosaurs cant think of the word.
And because of summer (damn you summer!) the knitting needles let their heads drop before I could even take a picture. Sad

Anyway pictures!

I didnt knit them very well. In some places they stretch too much and you can see the inside.  Also I couldnt reach some parts without destroying something else. Please forgive me. I should have thought about that before!

This is the ugly cake I made with the leftovers (just for the record):

+ they taste REALLY GREAT!

I hope you love them as much as I do now after I wrote this!
If you have questions feel free to ask!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / wooden elephant/tree pendant on: July 19, 2009 11:42:23 AM
I bought a wooden bookmark a few months ago and as expected the elephant fell off.
I LOVE elephants so I decided to turn it into a necklace.
I didn't really know how but today I made this:

I'm not sure if I like it. I found those wooden circles in our cellar
I burned the tree in and then glued the elephant on. the hole in the middle was already there.

comments & criticism appreciated
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / necklace holder on: June 27, 2009 11:52:05 AM
***I normally read "read before posting" before posting but this time I forgot. sorry***

My necklaces are all messed up and that's why I hardly ever wear them.
So I made a necklace holder to solve this little problem.

I might make a bigger one with more heads and also paint the wood or cover it with fabric.

Now what to do with the few rings and bracelets I have?

Just add arms! Smiley
I also changed the head order because they fit better that way.

comments & criticism welcomed!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / apple bag on: June 24, 2009 01:30:53 PM
I was really bored this morning and then I saw this bag I ruined when I was younger. First I was going to cover the front with beads but I couldn't come up with something I liked so instead I turned it into an apple bag. I used nail polish Smiley because the only fabric paint I own is black.

here it is:

I love how the apples turned out (the pic doesn't do them justice) but I still hate the background.
any suggestions what I could do?
I was thinking that maybe I could dye the whole bag black. would that work?
help please!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / board-game into note-board on: June 14, 2009 12:51:28 PM
I made this to put it on my door because post-its just won't stick!
it doesn't look like it was THAT much work but it took me a long time to make those wings because I wanted them to look like the original wings

here it is:

hope you enjoy!
7  COOKING / Dessert / Just another easter nest? on: April 12, 2009 06:03:44 AM

I made these for easter.
They're made of butter biscuits and vanilla butter cream - no baking
I made the chocolate easter bunnies myself and I love how they turned out Smiley

I'll add a pic of the inside once we eat them if someone wants to see it?

all you need is butter biscuits,
chocolate milk (or sth else), butter cream and any decorations you like

I made five layers so you take 5 biscuits and dip 4 of them in chocolate milk (for 1 second! NO MORE! - the dry one is the bottom), spread every biscuit with your butter cream and put them on top of each other. I did also spread the sides and then rolled them in chocolate sprinkels.
I won't explain how I made the butter cream because I'm too lazy to look up the words  Roll Eyes

you can make them as big as you want. I just made them so small because I wanted to do the nests but normally this is a cake and we just call it "Petit Beurre cake" Smiley

I don't know if what I wrote is understandable. If you have any more questions feel free to ask

EDIT: these are no bake but they go in the fridge for at least 2 hours. I always make them the day before we eat them so I guess 12 hours would be better

C&C welcome!

thanks for looking
8  COOKING / Dessert / bloody birthday cake on: January 29, 2009 09:47:38 AM
Today is my youngest brother's birthday and I made him a cake! Smiley
Basically all decoration is chocolate except for the candles and the toy soldiers of course.
I made the blood with orange juice, powdered sugar and red food coloring.

different views:

after the "big fire":

and this is how it looks inside:

the chocolate cake has a strawberry jam filling and the other one a hazelnut spread filling.

Thanks for looking!
