1  ugly not-fitting band t shirt and crappy singlet made sexy in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by jessmonster on: January 22, 2009 07:08:26 PM

so it came from this: i don't have a real pic in all of its crappy non fitting size xl glory, but this is the cut of it, very unflattering. now imagine that on a girl thats about 4 sizes too small.

so i decided what the hell, ill make it sexy!
but that's not what happened. fat normal band shirt transformed into trashy, horribly cut shirt that STILL didn't fit, and now looked like i was swimming in it.

please ignore my face, i was drunk, these are the only pics in existence!

then a couple of months later, inspiration struck! and ugly band shirt was transformed again as a practice sewing exercise, into cute fitted my chemical romance tee with a more flattering neckline and puffy sleeves. i love you sewing machine!

this was just an old plain black singlet, i ripped up the back and tied it back together, and gathered the front a little so the halter neck i made looked better.

feedback appreciated Cheesy

3  FASCINATOR kinda tute! IMG HUGE in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by jessmonster on: January 13, 2009 10:58:36 PM
for the '09 clothing make-along i made a fascinator. you can find the thread here. https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=282476.msg3250108#msg3250108

i'm going to include a kind of tutorial  Cheesy i'm a total virgin at this being creative stuff so be kind in your feedback please!

soo first up you need:
a headband to attach everything to
glue (you probably SHOULD use a hot glue gun for better quality)
feathers to decorate
tape for temporary hold
your piece of tulle or veiling

not pictured: a model to put the headband on, needle and thread the colour of your materials, newspaper to protect the table, beads or glitter to decorate.

1. take a section of your crinoline and make a shape out of it, this could be a flower, a bow, something abstract, anything you can think of. i made a rose. use some glue to hold it together.

2. put this aside and cut the tulle to a length for your veil. arrange the veil on the headband with the help of your model and hold it in place with a few stitches. remove from model's head (IMPORTANT) and glue veil down. you don't want to glue the model's hair down!

thanks, mum!

3. take the leftover veiling and arrange it into something, well, fascinating and hold it together with a few stitches. place on your headband and tweak until you like the look of it, then stitch and glue down.

4. attach your crinoline with a few stitches and, you guessed it! glue down.

5. start playing with feather arrangments til you find one you like. you can cut feathers into pieces, glue them down to your crinoline or whatever. if the feathers stand up and out of your fascinator, you will have a 'sassy' look, for a classier look, try to let the feathers curve to the shape of your head. i glued a few larger feathers at the back, and cut up some smaller, darker feathers to arrange in between. i also glue some pieces of the fluffy part of the base of the feathers around my rose.

6. optional. i added some lilac coloured beads to the centre of my rose to make things more interesting and covered them with glue.

7. congratulations, once your glue dries you have made yourself a fascinator!

4  first thing i've ever sewn (PINK AND PEPPERMINT TUTU) images! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by jessmonster on: January 11, 2009 06:01:22 PM
eeee! it took me more time than should have been necessary, and resulted in tears a few times, like when i first unpacked my second hand sewing machine and tried to thread the damn thing, sans manual.. it honestly took me 2 hours..

i think i unpicked as many stitches as i sewed and the top layers are horribly ungathered, it wasnt until the bottom couple i grasped the art of hand gathering.

but i'm proud of my little baby, and i'm definetly gonna keep sewing Cheesy

yay for 80's themed new yrs costumes!
