1  Ok, here's one I'm proud of! Yeti friend! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mommai on: January 04, 2014 12:09:25 PM
Here's another plush I made while learning to make them better! He's my new yeti friend, and I told the kids he's Mommy's!  Grin

I found the tutorial looking for something cute to make, and I love him! He was fairly easy to make, and I finally figured out how much stuffing actually needs to go into something! (a LOT! Thanks, stuffie book and experience!)
The tutorial is here if I can post that. http://crafts.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-make-a-kawaii-yeti-monster-plush-softie--craft-8553  You can also google Kawaii yeti tutorial and find it. Next up, learning How To Photograph!  Wink

2  Mooshy bunny! AKA a learning experience. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mommai on: January 04, 2014 11:59:54 AM
Now that I have a few more plushies under my belt, I've learned that I really REALLY like making them! I also love to look at patterns for them, and learning about the construction and techniques that go into making them! I bought myself a book about them, and some tools (hemostats ftw!) and am embarking on a journey to learn more and gain more experience! (and maybe even sell some patterns of my own someday, waaay down the road.  Wink )

I'm starting by getting more experience just by following others' patterns first. Here's my first attempt at a bunny pattern I've been eyeing for a while.

You can find the pattern by googling "mooshy bunny tutorial". It's made from one of my three year old's old shirts. I learned about how I really should use more stuffing, and not rush face placement and being done by using a sharpie.  Wink It was a lot of fun, and I still love it!

3  Skitty attempt for my daughter! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mommai on: January 04, 2014 11:47:52 AM
I made custom plushies for my kids for Christmas this year. My youngest fell in love with Skitty when she was watching Pokemon with her brothers, and started relating everything to Skitty. Things became known as Skitty-colored, for Skitty, and Skitty's favorite, among other things. I had been planning on making her a pony, but my husband made sure I made a Skitty for my daughter. It was definitely the better choice. She LOVES her Skitty. I couldn't find patterns, so I mostly winged it. I definitely learned a lot making Skitty, and will do a better job next time. In the mean time, she has a Skitty she loves, and I didn't kill myself being a perfectionist during Christmastime! (My biggest problem is just that Skitty turned into a longcat!  Wink )

4  Pika pi! Pikachu pillow for my son for Christmas! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mommai on: January 04, 2014 11:31:54 AM
I made custom plushies for each of my kids this year, and my kids have been enjoying Pokemon lately. My middle son's favorite is Pikachu, and my husband suggested that I make him a pikachu pillow instead of a plush, so that he can have a special pillow, too (my eldest has a creeper pillow I made him). Pikachu was a lot of fun to plan, and I'm pleased with how he turned out!

5  Awesome black and starry pink wallet of happiness! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mommai on: April 15, 2012 11:16:43 AM
So I saw this awesome post

and all the wonderful accessories, and fell in love with the zipper wallet. I LOVE small wallets, because I hate carrying a purse, and like to carry my wallet in my pocket. My mom also happened to be looking for something exactly like it (but waterproof-ish, which will be the hard part) for her trip to Disney World. I decided to make myself one for a first run before I try making hers out of not cotton.

(They're thumbnails because they're kind of blurry >_>)

It was a LOT of fun, and really easy if you've made a zippered pouch before. The tutorial linked to in the craftster post above had wonderful directions. I tried to get away with a 4" zipper, but it's slightly too small to get my cards in and out easily. I'll have to buy a bigger one and trim it down myself for the one for my mom.

6  Re: Crafted Cushion Cover Swap Gallery (SO Mar12) in The Swap Gallery by mommai on: March 15, 2012 05:12:32 PM
I like the birds as well! I've told my husband that I want paint for sewing projects for my birthday, and we'll see what happens  Wink

I received my AWESOME pillow from petskin!

I love pretty much everything about this pillow :3 And when I say pretty much, I really mean everything.

I had SO much fun with this swap, and both pillows I received match my favorite blanket (which is a very happy coincidence!), and are super cuddly! I'm glad I had two great partners for this swap and I'd definitely do it again!  Grin

I received my pillow cover from Heresa today! I LOVE it! The colors are so bright and happy, and I love the reverse applique circles! I wish I was better at taking pictures, and that it wasn't overcast and rainy in my house all day today, but here goes!

It looks a lot better and so bright and happy in person, and my 4 year old won't stop taking it around with him! Heresa even sent some of the fabric she used for the back!

She made it from a shirt from threadless! Here are some close ups

One thing I definitely learned from this swap: I suck at taking pictures. Anyone have any good "learn how to take good pictures" tutorials I can read? Wink

Apparently I got a little caught up on the Craft This Tote part, and crafting a few things for my partner, that I didn't do a good job actually FILLING it, since the one I sent was more like half full, compared to the others on here, and especially the one I just received from estar23!

Check out the awesome tote! And the super cute soot sprite and the stuff to make my own magnets and all the lovely lovely things she sent me!

So I'm going to send a little thank you package that will hopefully fill the tote I sent a little better! Wink  Thanks for the wonderful first swap!

My super-busy partner received yesterday, so I figured I'd post the pictures of the stuff I sent her for her!

I saw that she was in a Sanrio swap and liked kawaii things, so I used this awesome Hello Kitty fabric I've had in my stash for a few years!

I sent her a pretty green and white variegated skein of sugar'n cream yarn, along with a cute envelope needlebook and a little owl that's supposed to be for a pincushion, but is probably more like a stuffie instead. (Sorry for the slight blur on this photo, it is actually the best one, and I had to keep fighting my little ones to keep off everything while I was taking pictures!)

Here's a picture of the back of the needlebook

And here's the inside! Notice the little tiny triforces from the Legend of Zelda crayon-tinted onto the inside fabric. I made a little one for the stamp on the front as well.

I'm getting my package any day now, so I'll put up pictures of what I get soon! I had a lot of fun making things for this swap!
