3  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, First Half 2010 in The Swap Gallery by ewushka on: March 10, 2010 07:52:51 AM
I've been swapping with gamemom42 for over a year now and these are some of the content of the latest package I sent to her:

She wanted a fruit beanie for a newborn, but I've grown so tired with strawberry hats that I decided to go for the Swedish author/illustrater Elsa Beskow instead. She wrote this beautiful story about Tomtebobarnen long time ago and all the little children has death cap-hats. I've loved that story all my life and it felt nice to make something that not everyone has. Smiley
I know gamemom42 loved it and I hope you do too.

4  Modified Coraline-inspired Poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by ewushka on: March 10, 2010 07:37:09 AM
I made this for my swap partner in the Cute'n'creepy Swap of Doom. It's a modified poppet pattern (the head is poppet, the body is not)
I saw Coraline and got very inspired by the whole having a doll-doppelganger thing and so I made this as a doppelganger to my partner.

Here she is:

Where to put the label??? well....:

Hope you like it.
btw, my partner has received so this is no surprise ruiner.

When I entered the swap I had so many ideas and I made most of them, but then I decided that I couldn't send everything so these are some of the "left overs" I have more though Smiley

Death is a mole!

The oh so scary monster beanie that turned out to be a cushion.

That's it! Smiley

7  Big Blue - amigurumi bunny in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by ewushka on: September 16, 2009 06:38:54 PM
This is Big Blue. He's (I just assume it's a boy) going to move in with my nieces, soon to be, new baby. He may look small in the pics, but he's 14" tall and will do his very best to protect the newcomer.

And finally modelling a hat for the baby:

I love his long floppy ears, and his big feet. Don't you?

8  Re: Pippi Longstocking in Knitting: Completed Projects by ewushka on: September 16, 2009 12:04:15 AM
I really like the sweater pattern. What did you knit it with? Great colorwork, btw.

The sweater is made in baby wool and needles 2.5 (european) and the colours are traditional. It's either offwhite with red and navy stripes or navy with red and offwhite stripes that are the original colours.
The hat is made with two threads of alpacca in two different oranges. Needles 3 I think. It's not traditional in any way Smiley

It was fairly simple to knit. The pattern is 1 blue, 1 white for two rows (simple intarsia) and then switch to 1 white, 1 blue for 2 rows. Then it's white for 15 rows and the same with the red.
It's only a basic sweater so this pattern can be applied to most children sweaters.

Here's a close up of the neckline and you can se the pattern easier here.

9  Pippi Longstocking in Knitting: Completed Projects by ewushka on: September 15, 2009 07:33:00 PM
As some of you may know I have a 2 year old almost granddaughter (my late sisters grandchild) and I think it's never to early to be a Pippi, so I've made her the outfit to wear.
The pattern to this sweater is a traditional fishermans sweater from the west coast of Sweden, and since that's where I live it's even more fitting.
Anyway as I sat there knitting away on the sweater I began to think that it would be great with a matching hat, and so the Pippi-wig hat started to form itself.
Here they are:

Hopefully she'll like them, and hopefully you do to.

10  Flower bed blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by ewushka on: September 09, 2009 08:55:11 AM
I've finished a lot of crochet projects this summer, and have a lot to show, but I thought I'd start with the largest one.
It's 40x50", made out of wool with a crochet hook nr 5. Took me a couple of weeks and was mostly fun.
I used different red, pink and purple colours, framed it with different greens and finished the job with brown edges. It's supposed to look like a flower bed with red flowers. The colours are more vibrant live, but this is what I've got.
This is going to be a wedding present for some friends getting married next week, and since my last wedding blanket was a success, I hope this will be too.

Enugh rambling.
