1  Stripes and stars quilt made from civil war reproduction fabrics---just finished in Quilting: Completed Projects by quiltingfool on: March 17, 2009 04:50:34 PM

I just completed this queen-sized quilt which I started about 5 years ago at a quilting retreat in Vermont. I'd finished the top and put it away, but got it out and finished it after I purchased a new quilting sewing machine.

This is a detail of the design. I quilted near the edges of the shapes with tan thread.

Here's a look at the back. I hope you can see the quilting.

Here's a detail of the quilting, with the photo taken a little bit closer to the quilt.

Here's the front again, looking at one corner of the quilt.
Thanks for looking!

2  Baby quilt I just finished for my babysitter's baby boy, born this morning! in Quilting: Completed Projects by quiltingfool on: January 21, 2009 06:39:11 PM
My babysitter Stacy has always admired the quilts I've made during the 6 years she's taken care of my kids, so I was thrilled to be able to make a quilt for her new baby, born this morning weighing a healthy 7 pounds! I'm going to visit her at the hospital and give her this quilt.

Back of quilt (Peter Rabbit print was designed to look quilted but it's a single piece of fabric)

Detail of print on back of quilt:

I machine quilted it myself and hand-stitched the binding.
Can't wait to surprise her with it!

3  Paper-pieced quilt I've called "Cluster Housing" in Quilting: Completed Projects by quiltingfool on: January 13, 2009 01:26:27 PM

I'd been paper-piecing these tiny blocks from scraps for years, but I didn't have any plan for how to use them. I'd make them between other quilting projects and stash them in a drawer. That was until a received an invitation to submit a small quilt to a show near my home. So in just one day I assembled the blocks into this little quilt, sewed a border around it, and quilted it on my machine. You might notice I was in too much of a hurry to measure the border, so the quilt doesn't lie exactly flat. Oh well!
