1  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2009 12" Squares- January on: January 04, 2009 01:41:01 PM
Michele Leigh- I hope you can post a pic! I just clicked on the link and I had to log in to Facebook (which is weird, because I clicked on another Facebook link earlier today and didn't need an account to view it... hmmm...). I'm looking forward to seeing it (I was going to grab it and post it here for you, but alas)...

Opps, I had the album set for only my friends to view it, I have changed it to everyone so it should work now.  I also have it uploaded to my Craftser gallery if you know how to look at that.

That's fabulous!  We have enough snow here in Alberta for that, I'll have to remember that for future years, as I have two December babies as well as Christmas!

Finished mine last night.  It's in shades of yellow and red (well obviously)  Hmmmm I thought it was all worsted weight from the same project I made a few years ago, but I ended up needing two different hook sizes.  I got through all the yellow with size 5mm (US H) but when I went to add the first red the yarn felt thicker, and as I worked up the row it started to wave a bit, then more as I started the last red row, so I ripped it all out (is that frogging?  I've never heard that term before) and went down to a 4.5mm hook for the 2 reds, so now it lays flat and is ta-da... 12" Smiley

Well I tried to add the picture, but I haven't posted 10 times yet....  so here is a link instead.   Maybe after a few more posts I'll come back and add it lol

I love your colours Jr Mint!  I made one Thursday night but it came out too small and I used a yarn that was too many short pieces (left over from an afghan I did) so I had too many ends to weave in and it was annoying.  So... I am going to start another tonight.
5  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Alberta Canada on: January 03, 2009 11:34:12 AM
I have a feeling I'm going to be posting a lot in the upcoming months so I thought I'd say hi!  The new year has hit me with an itch to crochet, which sent me surfing the web for inspiration and I stumbled across Craftster.org.  I am an avid bookworm and crafter, always have a book and craft on the go and can't sit watching TV without a needle of some kind in my hand. My main passions are crochet, X stitch and quilting, but in the past I've done some candle making, paper crafts/rubber stamping etc.  But I find I enjoy fabric and thread the best.  I'm about to sew some "snuglet" fleece blankets (figured I could make them cheaper than buying them), and am planning a crocheted butterfly wing shawl.  I am also thinking of crocheting a baby afghan for my boss who is due in a couple months.  I have spent the last couple months X stitching Christmas stockings for my dh and dd, so I'm ready for something different.

My name is Michele, I'm a p/t working mom (bank teller) of 3 in Edmonton, although originally from the Toronto area.  Married to dh for almost 18 years.  The kids are 15, 11 and 8 now, so I am free to craft as they go about their busy lives Smiley    I'm looking forward to some CAL's and maybe some swaps.... I have been burned in the past on other sites, but this one seems like it has strict rules about swapping which I appreciate.  There are some really beautiful projects posted here and obviously some extremely talented crafters to get to know!
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: It took me over a year but finally finished - Grandmother's flower garden on: January 02, 2009 06:22:32 PM
What a beautiful quilt!  I can imagine the sense of accomplishment you'd feel at the end!  I too have made quilts for everyone but ME, one day....

Well I'm in Smiley  I'm new here (just joined tonight) but this seems like a good place to jump in!  I have been X-sitching Christmas stockings the last couple months, but was sitting here this evening and started getting the itch to crochet, which started me surfing the web for ideas and I found this site!  I think I'm going to pack away the stocking I just started and pull out my yarn stash for inspiration for this project.
