21  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / More Polymer Clay Mosaics on: April 28, 2012 03:24:08 PM
A Henna inspired wall plaque.  I'm not really as happy with this one.  It looked a lot more awesome in my head.

Life is Good!  I wanted this one to have a kind of tropical beachy feel.

Comments, thoughts, questions welcome.  Cheesy
22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / DOTD-esque Owls on: April 22, 2012 08:53:48 AM
I made these for Noooitaremybirthday in Round 20 of the IYP Swap.

Here are the pictures that Nooo took when she received her package!

This is an Urban Threads pattern that was supposed to be kind of retro with just one color thread on a solid background.  But when I saw them, my brain automatically went to Day of the Dead.

Thanks for looking!
23  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Knock, Knock? Any-gnome home? on: April 14, 2012 05:05:17 PM
I made this for Knickertwist for the IYP Round 20 swap.  And I was sooooo very tempted to keep it for myself!  I love it!

The finished product!

The very beginning.  I started with the doors and built from there.

Building up and adding windows.

Vines growing around our little gnome home.  Smiley

I really had a blast working on this project and I may have to make myself another one!
24  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Expanding Shower Steamers on: March 24, 2012 11:22:14 AM
I'm trying to make shower steamers.  I had some really awesome ones a while ago but they were $4.00 a piece!  o.O  I thought to myself "I can make these!"  So I looked up a few recipes for them and went to work.  I've made them but....  when I was finished and I popped them out of the mold onto a cookie sheet to dry...  they started expanding.  (yay chemistry!)  Its almost like I have one giant sheet of shower steamer.

Has anyone else done this?  Does anyone have any suggestions?   Undecided

To give you a bit more info....  the recipe I found said to use 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid, 1/4 cup epsom salts, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 1/4 witch hazel, 1/6 cup of honey and 2 table spoons of EO.  Mix the dry ingredients, add EOs.  Mix honey and witch hazel separately and put into a spray bottle.  Spray mixture onto the dry stuffs and use your hand to mix just until it starts to clump.  Then put the mixture into candy molds and pop out onto a cookie sheet to dry overnight.
25  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mosaics! on: February 12, 2012 05:44:55 AM
So - I received a polymer clay mosaic from MissingWillow in the Mini 13 days of Halloween swap last year and it inspired me to make my own.  Smiley

This one I made as a gift for the art teacher at my school.  She's been really awesome since I'm new to the school this year.

And this one I made for the Winter 2011 swap.

These are really just waaaaay to much fun to make.  I have two plaques painted and waiting for polymer clay whenever I get a chance to sit down and get started on them.  Cheesy

Questions and comments are totally welcomed!
26  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Personalized Doodle Hoop inspired by OGD on: February 11, 2012 04:39:12 PM
OneGroovyDay made a personalized doodle hoop for TroubleT here not too long ago.  And I loved it!  So I decided to make one for a dear friend of mine.  We worked together for five years and she considers me her 3rd child.

Here are some closer pictures.

The names are hers, her husbands, both of her children, her son-in-law and her two grandkids.  And all the other words are things that people think of when they think of Mona.  She's just so awesome and such a drama queen.  She cried and hugged me and got upset with me for making her cry in public.  Roll Eyes

And here's the back of it.  I did this totally freehand so when I look at it I see where it veers up and down in places but oh well.  Cheesy  The big green block is where I covered up my name.  Wink

Questions, comments, and critiques are always welcomed!  Smiley

30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Winter Swap Anyone? on: November 12, 2011 06:49:42 AM
I was thinking about a winter themed swap.  Not a Christmas/Holiday swap.  Just winter.  Snow, Snowflakes, fire places, hot chocolate, gloves, mittens, scarves, snowmen, sleds, etc.  Make it a 5 point swap like the Autumn swap was this year.  Anyone interested?
