1  Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap Round 4 - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Averia on: March 28, 2019 04:54:53 AM
oh my oh my oh Kathy! You could not have picked more perfect fabrics for me!

Here is a picture of all the amazing goodies - fabric bowl, cute little journal cover, sweet little change purse, nicely portable snappy sewing kit, ice cream cozy (omg yes, say it is!), key fob and Blue L I feel so spoiled - thank you!

Not sure if this was meant as an ice cream cozy - it is something I had never heard of till they started coming across my pinterest feed a couple months back, but I think it is something everyone should have and it is just the right size. Even the binding came from the fat quarters? Don't suppose you have a link to the pattern? so very pretty.

Thank you so very much. I really appreciate not just the skillfully made fabulous crafting, but that you chose so very well for me.

My package from Grab a coffee made it! She claimed me for a needlebook and wow it is one heck of a sweet lovely needlebook. Not just a work of art but functional as well. Thank you!

inside - not just blank pages Smiley

I received two lovely (and ever so blue!!! I love blue!!!) prayer flags from Thanate. I love the embroidery designs she picked as well as the fabrics. So very cool that she chose wonderful words that have great meaning to me and go together so very well.

Thank you!

4  peacock + braid in Needlework: Completed Projects by Averia on: March 09, 2019 08:14:39 PM
Edit 3/10/19 - My partner posted a much better picture in the gallery - Yay

I probably shouldn't even be posting since the picture is so dark (you know that mad rush to mail on time with a quick photo even though the lighting is bad?) but here is the mug rug I made for the Mug and mug rug swap. I couldn't decide between braided batiks and some kind of peacock, so decided to have a go at both. Not really how I meant it to turn out - I was trying to nest detached lazy daisy stitches of different colors for they 'eyes' on the feathers and with each new color they became more elongated and less round.

Here's a progress picture showing a close up of the 'eyes'

Koreena made me a lovely quilted mugrug in blue - I really love blue! and she also included a fabric bin as my alternative to a mug and a darling pin cushion. And ooooh, so much candy - too much for an international swap. I love coffee crisp and macintosh's Toffee. I have many fond memories of both from childhood Smiley

Here's everything:

and a close up of the mugrug:

Thank you Koreen!

Here are my packages from geekgirl1000100 - yes packages, she sent me a box of goodies that arrived after the crafted box. I have a serious lack of imagination when it comes to paper crafting and Carlee sent me a ton of inspiration to go along with my very own steampunky journal.

Check out the lovely steampunky Journal and a charm pack of my very favorite fabric in my very favorite color (OMG all blues! I am soooo happy!)

Here are all kinds of interesting little tidbits - painted bits, textured bits, patterned bits, stencils, cut out steampunk gears. So much awesome!

so many craft supplies, paints, brushes, sketching supplies, a watercolor paper pad

ooh and the treats (as if the crafting treats weren't enough)

Thank you Carlee!

7  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 150 January 2019 Discussion and Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Averia on: February 22, 2019 09:11:29 PM
Thanks veghorsegirl - Poor Anne had to put up with about 100 different possible fabric combination photos as I angsted over what to choose.

And now I finally found some time to fiddle with pictures of what Kartiana sent me so that I could show it in all its glory and not overwhelm anyone with a million photos.

First up here is everything: Some soft washcloths in a lovely blue plaid flannel, beautiful origami paper, a lovely, subtly accented notecard (I seriously love this!) and a teeny tiny little inchie book. Yes, that little circle door is the entrance-way to teeny tiny hobbitty love.

I could not show just one page of this book, no no no, did I mention? all inchies?

Thank you Kartiana! (p.s. please let me know if you want me to upload the higher resolution individual pics - was just too much to put into a post that way)

8  Dandelion attempt in Needlework: Completed Projects by Averia on: February 03, 2019 04:21:38 PM
My partner had a pin of a dandelion sewn on see-through netting and I wanted to try to figure out the stitches. I have no idea if I got it the same as the original picture, but I mostly like the method I used. Trying to make it look like a couple bits were blowing away without having anything show through from the back to the front is too tough for me. Mine look a little too attached still. Next time hopefully I can get that a little more natural looking. I think I need to go with a larger embroidery, or a thinner silk thread. this is done with a single thickness of dmc floss.

9  4 season twinchies in Needlework: Completed Projects by Averia on: February 03, 2019 04:10:20 PM
My partner (the dear sweet and lovely Anna.wahnsinn) and I decided to swap for twinchies - we both love them and it keeps the shipping down. she had a lovely pin of some small round embroideries of trees in all 4 seasons. I thought they were well suited to twinchies. I started by stitching roughly identical trees, then adding french knots over top.  Even though they are only twinchies, they were pretty time consuming.

10  Kantha flamingo? in Needlework: Completed Projects by Averia on: February 03, 2019 03:32:46 PM
I was trying my hand at stitching in a Kantha style on a cotton dish towel. It sort of feels like cheating as a fill stitch because it goes so quickly.
