11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Squid Swap (SIGNUP 27 Sep - 18 Oct; MAIL BY 18 Nov 2005) on: September 27, 2005 05:39:01 AM
Jaami, I wasn't actually going to participate in the swap, just organise and make a backup incase of flakage, but if there's no one else local, I'll partner with you.

Also, you don't *have* to answer any of the last 11 questions, it's just a guide for your partner, I'm sure if they have any other questions, they'll PM you.

And now for my favourite joke:
Why did the chewing gum cross the road?

Thank you! I'm not into brown either. We had a brown uniform early in high school so now brown is just ugly to me, nothing but ugly!

It's actually a vintage doona cover. I was making it at my parents place and my mum said she had the same one in the 70s.

Those blouses are AMAZING, Bente, I love the polka dot one. Did you draft your own pattern?

Dude! You're smokin' hot! (I got that phrase from an American show where 12 girls in a house try to win fair batchelor. I'm keeping it). The wig is amazing and the outfit makes me want to dance.

Burda are German, I think, which explains a lot, though from my experience, Germans are, like us Danes, quite statuesque (I missed that gene and just got voluptuous), so you'd think their patterns would be suitable for taller women with flesh on their bones. My brother's gf is German and she's HOT. Oh, well.

Bente, I think I've told you this before but I have a tente called Bente (*giggle*). Welcome aboard, I'd love to see your blouses.

Rad. Thanks, crafty_dame. I had a look online for one, but they all had different conversions and I got confused.

I'm a super beginner crocheter, so I'm a bit unsteady with it all.
17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Christmas Swap? on: September 27, 2005 02:08:53 AM
I looked and looked but I don't think this has been done before. It must have, though, so I hope I'm not stepping on any toes.

That said, I'm almost completely ready for Christmas this year (thanks to the Christmas craftalong) and I've a little extra crafting energy for a swap.

I'm thinking along the lines of crafty_dame's halloween swap, where you send two small items or one small and one medium (effort, not physical size) item and maybe pad out your package with a couple of little store bought items.

You could make a couple of ornaments or a stocking or cards and gift tags.

I'm thinking along the lines of stuff that you might have been making for other people so that it's no trouble to make an extra one or two.

FYI, the halloween swap I was talking about is here:

Well, it's spring here and, as I understand it, anyway, Halloween is a seasonal thing, yeah?

Halloween month wouldn't necessarily have to be costumes, it could be halloween/autumn. You could make anything and decorate it to be halloweeney. I have an idea for a skirt with a spiderweb embroidered on or a candy corn bag.

Pants is also an insult in England (or, in my exes Britain, anyway), it's a terrible thing when someone calls you pants or says 'that's pants' when you show them something!

When does winter kick in for most people? I wear a cardigan in the Sydney summer, so I'm a poor judge of weather.

Plus, (sorry for all of the posts, editing would be easier, but whatever) I suddenly have a BUNCH of ideas for this swap.

Yeah!

I've just craftster stalked the people I didn't know and I know what I would make for EVERYONE in the swap. Rad.

Plus, the calibre of the swappers already signed up makes it hard to refuse.
