1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: HELP! How do I make a hijab for a runner? on: March 23, 2012 03:50:18 PM
You could try to make an al-amira hijabone or two pieces made out of stretchy fabric, so the fit or cut doesn't have to be perfect. Here's a tutorial that looks promising, but I haven't used it myself. http://franyablue.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Make-a-One-Piece-Hijab-in-5-Easy-Steps

That looks really amazing! You did a great job on both of them! I am envious of your skills.
6  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Princess Zelda on: October 20, 2009 01:18:57 PM
My costume for Anime Banzai which was last weekend. It was awesome! Although my dress ripped in a few places D:

Anyway, this is an *original design* Princess Zelda... I looked at some canon designs (mostly Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time) and then decided to make my own. It turned out almost exactly as I planned, hooray! It features a steel-boned and busked corset (my first "real" corset), screenprinted banner, and craft-foam armor.

(without my wig on, also missing half my face)

At the dance with a Link I didn't know XD

Anime Banzai also featured a Pajama Party contest... you had to design what your character would wear as pajamas! I was totally excited for this and made a Zelda nightgown. The skirt is a circle skirt (very good for twirling) with triforces I screened all the way around the bottom. I'm really proud of it and guess what? It won!

Thanks for looking!

Awesome tutorial. I used the same sort of process of mashing up tutorials for my first corset... I think I'm going to add your tut to my methods for my second one that I'll be making soonish. Awesome job, very clearly articulated!

Beautiful work! I'd love to see a tutorial for the hoodie Smiley

If you're going for blues/service uniform, then it's pretty easy: dark blue skirt or slacks (and they come up *really* high, speaking from experience) and blue button up shirt; you might find something that'll work with a men's shirt. Something like Simplicity 8760 for the shirt, but omit the pockets for the ladies' version. Maybe Simplicity 2470 (no pockets) for the skirt? If I recall correctly, the shirt is a cotton/poly blend, and the skirt is a wool blend.
