1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Home away from Home - crafty camping - 2009 on: December 25, 2008 04:22:27 AM
selkie - I'd love to see your curtains & cushions when you get done. We're going camping for new years also - its summer in oz though and so we're hoping our camp site is not too crazy busy with other campers. We're stuck in the dome tent because delivery of the taj mahal was delayed. It should be good fun still though and I can see what gets bumped to the top of the must-do crafting list with the first outing of some of our new gear.
feelix - I'm going to try and post tutes with a few of my projects because I've not had a lot of luck googling for instructions for some ideas - or at least some good photos/plans if the instructions are pretty obvious.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: pet sweaters, neck warmer, blanket and a bow [picture ginormous!] on: December 19, 2008 02:12:42 AM
very funny about talula - I had a vision of an unimpressed but very well-dressed cat flying across the room hehehe. I really like the throw as I've been contemplating a similar project but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try huge needles yet. I like the colours you chose.

this is great! I love the colours in your square.

Do you have a teeny-tiny hammer? I'll have to try this but I see trouble looming (so sorry, bad pun) as I have to work pegs into the last corner

this looks great - thanks for the inspiration (and links!). I was just looking at these on ebay the other day.
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Home away from Home - crafty camping - 2009 on: December 16, 2008 04:32:45 AM
This might only be in season in the southern hemisphere but I'm really excited about crafting up some snazzy camping gear and furnishings for our new camper-trailer (trailer tent). To us, it is the Taj Mahal and very, very exciting. I know I have to do something to make it more comfy though (and brighten up the stretches of utilarian brown/tan).

Here are some of my ideas (some so overly ambitious it's not funny):
 - Utensil roll/bag
 - Food Safe (I'll post picture/plan later) for keeping insects/fur kids out of food
 - Dilly bags & Duffle bags for packing loose cookware/gear etc
 - Dish cloths
 - Tea towels
 - Camp Kitchen furniture (eg folding/hanging cupboards)
 - Quillow/Quilt
 - Travel pillows
 - Rag rug
 - Lounging chairs/pillows
 - Water bottle cosy/carriers
 - Waterproof ponchos
 - Back pack for short hikes
 - Music stools/stands
 - Journal (for all the amazing & not so amazing places to stay/explore)
 - Cookbook for camp recipes

All of these would need to be able to packed/stored in a fairly limited space but not as limited as a backpack...

Anyone else interested? It could be fun Smiley

6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / G'day from Melbourne, AU on: December 16, 2008 04:08:47 AM

My name is Clare and I live Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. I live on a small property with 3 little fur kids and 1 large, ageing fur kid. I am more enamoured with many crafts than accomplished at any... this is something I'm working on though! (baby steps, baby steps). I lean towards quilting, sewing, knitting, needlework but want to branch out to new and exciting areas. I'm attempting homemade recipe books and customised journals to supplement some of the more impersonal, but requested,  xmas gifts this year (I've been asked for cash by SIL this year!?!)

Anyways, I'm looking forward to much sharing, caring and learning on craftster,

Thanks for your eyes for this introduction, Clare
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: DeStash-Along 2009 on: December 16, 2008 03:31:22 AM
me seven! stash has moved on enough that plans for projects have been buried amongst the hoard. 1st craft, journal for projects with action plan up front and centred with list of available supplies (might be scary). My new year's resolution might just be to resist the call of all craft supply stores until a serious enough dent has been made!
8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: dutch oven recipes on: December 16, 2008 02:53:50 AM
I've run across this link for camping cooking with a 'camp oven'. There are some recipes for Damper - good aussie bush tucker (camp bread that doesn't have to be kneaded/set aside to rise).
