1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Goddess Applique Diaper Bag on: April 01, 2009 10:50:05 AM
A friend wanted me to make her a diaper bag that was cooler than the Sesame Street one she got from her MIL. She picked out the fabrics, and I wasn't to keen on the color combo initially but I really love how it turned out.
First time working with duck cloth, and fleece interfacing. No real pattern, I just looked at a bunch of different messenger bag tutorial.
There a pocket under the flap and a big one inside. Nothing fancy, buts she's bf'ing so no need for bottle storage. Anyway, she liked it and that's what counts! Right?
Sorry, somehow I managed to not get one good pic of the inside but the lining is the same as the brown/green stripe on the front.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Coffee Sack Repurposed. on: January 25, 2009 08:33:01 PM
And much better as a purse I think.  Wink Lined with a sheet that I found in a free pile, so the whole thing cost me a whopping $0 to make and about 2 hours.

Here's the tute I used (I'm secretly in love with it)---> https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149376.0

The bag, excuse the cruddy lighting:

Let me know what you think, sorry I don't have a pic of the bag before hand. It was just a regular old coffee sack that the dh brought home from work.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First 4 Bags, and First Post! on: January 22, 2009 04:36:37 PM
So I'm a complete noob when it comes to sewing, been at it for just under a month. Here are the bags that I've made so far. (I've also been dabbling in recon clothes, dolls and blankets...wide range Wink.)

I used this tute for the first 2:
First try, using lots of random fun scraps.

Second try, using some fat quarters that I like.

This one I used a random pattern that I picked up at JoAnns, its huge and I love it. I made it to use as a carry on for a trip I'm taking soon.

This last one I made last night out of fabric that my dh found in a free pile on his way home from work (I love Portland for its free piles! The scrappy fabric for the first bag came from one too.) The lining really confused me so I just winged it, so its a bit weird, but I really like it! You can see the wonky white thread, which looks kinda crappy Embarrassed, but for bag #4 its not so bad eh?

Thanks! Let me know what you think.
