1  Re: Summer Sockathon Sockalong 2011 (June 7-Sept. 22) ~Yarn Prizes!~ in Knitalongs by crendon on: June 16, 2011 06:57:33 PM
got my first sock yarn! 2 balls of Mini Mochi in a variegated yarn...reds to oranges to a plummy maroon. So pretty!

I also found some Addi turbo circulars (size 2, 40") at a retirement sale for $10 and bought the 2 at a time socks (toe up) book. I think I'm all ready to start my first pair of socks! woohoo! I'm excited & nervous. The 2 at a time magic loop method looks frankly scary. My husband is working tonight and I beat my video game last night, so I have a lot of time to focus on socks tonight lol.

Wish me luck!

**edit: size 2 needles, not 0

I've swatched this yarn with the 2 needles. I'm a super tight knitter, so I'll go up to 3. And I'm already going blind Sad  haven't even cast on yet!

another favorite! so dainty with tiny freshwater pearls

my favorite earrings...I made several pairs of these & they tickle my shoulders. LOVE them!

another favorite...I love amber, but it's cost prohibitive for me. so I found these amber glass drops at Hobby Lobby forever ago & they've found a home!

3  first knitting project! Dottie Wrap in Knitting: Completed Projects by crendon on: October 06, 2010 07:33:18 PM
Sooo, no this isn't me...

It's the Louisa Harding "Dottie Wrap" from Knitting Little Luxuries.

Here's my version:

I went easy on the buttons & eliminated the blanket stitch on the edges & the patterned stockinette stitch. This was my first project, so I wanted something easy to remember.

after 2 failed hat projects & a few small washcloths, I really have confidence to try some new things! I'm going to make this again, in browns this time, using better yarn (this was 100% acrylic) and making it a little larger (those patterns are all for itty bitty people!!).

IGNORE THE FACE! and the hat's not mine...just had a super bad hair day.

5  Re: OTTT or One Tiny Twilight Thing gallery! in The Swap Gallery by crendon on: May 03, 2010 08:11:12 AM
Well, my partner received on April 24th, so I thought I'd post pics for her. I went a TOTALLY different way with this one...she said she's more of an "inspired by" Twilight fan, so I didn't want anything too blatant. And I found this pic on her wist...

and I thought, oh yeah, apple. so...this is my interpretation of that. It's a brooch.

so...it's a fimo apple (with a real apple stem) & the "she's with us" is a quote from Carlisle, my partner's favorite character. I really thought the chains & nails were symbolic of the no going back mentality that Bella & Edward realized throughout...that once she becomes a vampire, there's no returning to a normal life. She's chained to the life & to the family, for better or worse. So, in my mind it worked out hahahahaha...I'm kind of weird sometimes though, so if no one else gets it I'm ok with that. I just hope she liked it!

oh...and bunnykins...I used to use that as my avatar too...are you in Austin?!  Grin

I RECEIVED! I really love this necklace...it's so cute! Brass fangs with little drops of glass "blood" on them. I included a pic of the apple pendant/cell phone charm because it was attached to the necklace (I took it off to take pics of both separately), so not an extra  Grin. I really love it Spydie, thanks!

first, a pic of the package with the cute card she included...

here's the necklace

and the apple charm that goes with the necklace or on my cell phone...

love it, thanks again!

8  Hair flowers in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by crendon on: April 17, 2010 07:29:09 PM
I made these last night, trying to pare down a HUGE fabric stash (I've kind of been on sewing strike because I don't really like it & it stresses me out!). The big white one is about 4" across, and is made with alternating fabrics (shimmery gauze, crushed velvet & a white broadcloth). The little one is about an inch & 1/2, made with cotton gingham prints. I made 2 of the little ones for my daughter & the big one's for me.

I cut various sized circles, alternated the fabric and then singed the edges with a lighter. It smelled horrible & was really smoky, but I love the end result. thanks for looking!

9  Re: OTHPT Gallery in The Swap Gallery by crendon on: April 05, 2010 06:35:37 PM
Okay...here is my OTHPT....I LOOOOOVE it!

I opened up the box to find this.....

which is pretty enough by itself. So I'm thinking, oh cool...maybe it's decoupaged on the inside or something...
but then I open it to find...

It's Bellatrix's pendant! It's so great, I really do love it. Here are a few more shots.

Thanks so much Pinkleo! This has been a really fun swap!

10  Harry's Memory Trunk (pic massive) in Completed Projects by crendon on: March 22, 2010 06:07:07 PM
Im imagining Hogwarts in the future. Ron & Hermiones granddaughter Peony is Headmistress, and Harrys grandson James III has only recently been released from Azkaban (for what we dont know).

All we know is that there has been a love affair between Peony and James III, and while one she risen to the top of her profession, he has fallen from the grace of his legacy (presumably  because he couldnt handle the pressures of the Potter name). Peony has found this trunk in a Hogwarts attic, and she hopes it will bring James back to his senses and prompt him to realize his birthright as the progeny of a great Wizarding family.

Here is the trunk she sent:

She sends the trunk by owl to James who is currently residing at the Bainbridge Home for the Temporarily Indigent in London

Hogwarts Crest & outside of "leather" trunk

closer inside picture

And...everything comes out!

Included are:
-a "patronus" poster, Harry's first invitation to Hogwarts school, a white feather in memory of Hedwig, a framed picture of Ginny Weasley, an invitation to a memorial service for Dumbledore; all taped, nailed or glued to the front door
-a pensieve, with memory intact (fimo)

better shot of the "architecture"

-a Nimbus 2000, (yes, I know it was destroyed in the book...I'm thinking it was reconstructed for Harry as a decorative gift, never to have magical properties again)
-a Sorting Hat (the only other one in existence) (fimo)

-a small urn filled with floo powder

-a prophecy, a snitch, Harry's first wand box, a Phoenix feather, and a Sorcerer's Stone

-a Basilisk fang (Fimo) and two books

-3 potions: Amortentia, Draught of the Living Death, Felix Felicis; one memory, Harry Potter; and dried gillyweed

This was for my partner in the OTHPT swap, Pinkleo....comments & criticisms welcomed!

EDIT: there are some fairly large plot holes in my story, the largest that has been pointed out to me is that Peony & James III would be related. OOOPS! anyway, that whole issue is covered as well as lots of other cool HP mini things on the OTHPT board...https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=340280.0
