1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Tea Towel Tour 3-T3- Rise of the Tourists on: April 09, 2008 09:43:01 PM
Ezri_B, I love your pinup and I'm totally inspired try shading like that on something, but it would have to be something for myself since I'd be afraid to mess it up...

Here is the design that I ended up putting on UrsulaDiamond's towel, I was inspired by some soap that she had in her wists and didn't really think about the difficulty of embroidering something so complicated and symmetrical.  It ended up a little bit wonky but I'm still pleased with how it turned out.  Sorry for the terrible picture, I was in a hurry to ship it out and didn't realize that it was so out of focus.

cupcakeguru, I love your addition to the underwater craft towel, that whale is too flipping cute!
GatsbyGirl, I'm totally digging your bunny and flowers, your satin stitch looks great!
amyracinrose, I totally agree with the eyelashes theory and think your birds are fantastic
beetastic, I'm really glad that I'm not the only one who thinks pets should spend more time dressed up, everyone else makes fun of me!
sundayafternoonhousewife, I'm totally in love with your addition to my towel.  I didn't originally expect people to combine two such random themes but I really love the thought that everyone has put into it, and also the other random pairing ideas that have come out of it.  I can't wait to get stitching on my last towel, although I still have no idea what I'm going to put on it...

I am totally loving our avatars today, I was confused at first thinking there were a bunch of Doogie Howser fans around, but then I caught on (not the brightest crayon in the box sometimes...)

I finished Ezri_B's towel and sent it off yesterday.  I added a little forest scene...

My iron attempted a suicide leap off of my ironing board and is currently in multiple pieces, so I wasn't able to iron it before shipping it off to Sew~Amy, sorry!!

I'm getting more and more excited to see my towel in person!  Ezri_B, I love the latest addition, she is fantastic!

Cupcakeguru, I love the flowers that you did, the details really make it stand out.

Iamsusie, I'm a huge art noveau fan, and your grapes look great!

I'm a little more than halfway through the design that I picked out for Ezri_B's towel.  All of the other designs are so great and intricate in person, I picked out something a little more detailed than I would normally go for but I'm really liking the way that it's turning out.

Sorry I'm a little late getting this posted, I was in a rush to get sundayafternoonhousewife's towel out on Friday and then I was gone all weekend.  I put a little gnome with a cupcake and some mushrooms to add to the forest theme...

Sorry for the crummy camera phone picture, my real camera is out of commission.

I'm totally loving all of the sea creatures on sew~amy's towel and am getting a little anxious about being the last person to embroider it!

Man, I so need to start checking in on this thread more than once a week, I am always totally inspired and in love with everyone's stitching... I'm jealous of all of the awesome talent and also the fantabulous tea towels that people end up with.
I know that I'm ridiculously late on board, but I am DIGGING the pinup on the mushroom that UrsulaDiamond put on my towel, she is so friggin awesome!!  To answer some of the queries about the theme of my towel, it's actually the theme of my kitchen (not that that's any less random, I suppose).  It started with pulp novel covers and 60's/70's ceramic mushroom accessories and then really just went from there, thrift stores and yard sales are my best friends.
OK, I solemnly swear that I'll keep tabs on this thread better so that I can comment on everyone's amazing work!  I'm nearly done with sundayafternoonhousewife's towel and it should be going out in the mail tomorrow.  I'm really excited about it so I'm sure that I'll take and post pictures as soon as it's done.

I've been totally out of the loop in this gallery but I absolutely love everything that I have seen.  This swap always inspires me to try new things, it's fantastic.

Sew~amy, I absolutely love the mushrooms on my towel, they are so cute, and the snail is awesome!  You're putting me to shame, posting your contribution to cupcakeguru's towel before I even got around to uploading mine!  I also stuck with the tattoo theme and since I've been a little Vegas obsessed lately, here's what I ended up doing:

I can't wait to get my next towel, I'm already plotting what I'm going to do with it...

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Rainbow Star on: January 02, 2008 07:30:53 AM
I love this rainbow version, it is so bright and cheerful!  Someday maybe my crocheting will look all nice and even like that and not like a third grader did it.  I suppose I'll just have to be more patient and work at it.

There is a great star blanket tutorial here:
Although, being a beginner myself I'm saving that for after I've managed to successfully complete at least a couple more hats and scarves...

10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2007(ANGELS for gwenyvarr have been found. Thanks! on: December 20, 2007 09:38:14 PM
Phew, I've been a total bum about posting pictures and stalking the gallery but after tomorrow I'm off work until next Thursday (WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!) and so I'll have lots of time to stalk and craft.  SewingLori sent me some beautiful headbands for day 7, they are so rad.  Day 6 was all knit goodies which I desperately need since it's been so freakin cold here, they are so cool.  Today I opened up a recipe book full of recipes for 5 delicious treats.  They look so yummy, I can't wait to start cooking!!  The coolest part is the book itself, which is handmade and too awesome for words, really.  Thanks so much SewingLori!  I love everything I've opened.
Now off to bed so that I can get work over with for the week and start my vacation!
