1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Hot weather Dress Ideas, HELP!!!! on: February 19, 2012 03:14:21 PM
I am going to a wedding in Jamica this June and I have no idea what to wear. I style is retro/rockabilly, and I am not sure what kind of dress I should make. I hear that linen is best in the climate there but I am not sure. I need some pattern ideas and some fabric suggestions. PLEASE HELP
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / More Dresses on: June 08, 2010 05:45:41 PM
This is my latest and I think  its my favorite. Its not done yet, it just needs a bow. Its for a client . She needs it for a photo shoot. I know it might seem silly for me to get excited about this, but it makes me smile just to think of my dress in a photo shoot. This design is a little more authentic to the whole rockabilly/1950's style. I love it!!! The other dress is more of a cute little sundress, still totally vintage inspired. Its not quite as spunky as my other dresses. I love the fabric. It was on clearance last year at Walmart for $0.60 a yard. AWESOME!!! I wish that I would have bought more. Now I know that these seem to be the only dresses I make and post, so I will lay off for a little while.

the bodice needs a little tweaking. it comes up higher than the other dresses and it has a small gather in the front.

a twirly shot

Please let me know what you think.

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / What Serger?? on: June 07, 2010 05:53:55 AM

I am currently looking to buy a new serger. The serger that I have is an older one that was a gift, and it just isn't getting the job done the way I would like it to. I can get one in the $200-$250 range and I was wondering if anyone could give any suggestions on a good one in that price range.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / The Marty Dress on: May 13, 2010 03:05:56 PM
My daughters 3rd birthday was Saturday. I let her pick out her own fabric for her birthday dress. While at the fabric store my DD said that she wanted a "Marty" dress. Marty Dress? Then I got it Marty was the zebra in Madagascar. So she had a zebra print rockabilly (of course) dress for her birthday, and I love it. I think I want one for myself.

Sorry about the blurry pics. I couldnt get her to stand still long enough to get a good one.

Please let me know what you think.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / I really love these dresses (pic heavy) on: April 29, 2010 05:03:13 PM
I really love these rockabilly dresses I've been making lately. These ones have got to be some of my favorites. They are super twirly and the shirred back allows for a lot of growing room. The best thing about the dresses is they can be made with just a little over a yard of fabric.

this dress reminds of the flintstones for some reason.

This is my DD's BFF and her pictures turned out really cute

This dress was for a client. I actually made her another almost just like the zebra print one but the skirt was pink.

Please let me know what you think.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easter dress (pic heavy) on: April 03, 2010 06:59:43 PM
I've been eyeing this beautiful dupioni silk at Hancocks for months. First it made it to the value fabric, then it was 50% off, and then I knew it was time to buy. I knew exactly what I would make with it, the Pumpkins Easter dress. I used the same pattern I made for this dress -> https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=340346.0. I changed the grain of the fabric for the lower part of the bodice on purpose. I like the look.

She's love this hat.

ok so this will be the last rockabilly dress for a while. I'll post differant stuff. I really like this one. its lined and there's tulle on the bottom plus its super twirly as well.  I even made a little matching fabric flower barrette.

I dont know what this pose is all about. I think a little too much America's Next Top Model.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / another rockabilly dress (pic heavy) on: March 25, 2010 03:01:44 PM
I am totally in love with this one, and its too bad that she wont be keeping it. Sad I'm giving it away on my blog. This dress is lined like the last one but insted I went selvage to selvage and gathered the skirt on the lining. The last dress was a full circle. Its super twirly and I love the tulle on the bottom. It really looks like she's wearing a petti underneath.

she looks so silly but I love this picture.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / another dress on: March 11, 2010 06:40:29 PM
This dress I am very proud of. Its completly linned and it's got crinoline. I was going to sale this one, but I'm not sure it looks really good on the pumpkin. I do think that it needs something else on it. maybe a pink fabric flower or a bow. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

its suupppper twirly

the crinoline, the cat really like tulle

So, what do you think?

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Her new dress (pic heavy) on: March 05, 2010 08:04:52 PM
I've had this lovely lilac linen in my stash for a while. So today I finally decided to use it. I made the pumpkin a cute little boatneck collar dress with a full circle skirt. I love linen.

and it twirls!!!

as you can see, I have not added the buttons yet and I'm sorry about the bad pics. My camera is having issues.
Please let me know what you think.
