1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: animal embroidery 2010 on: January 12, 2011 09:25:46 AM
I'm going to have to break my posting hiatus to say how much these rock. They look beautiful! Fur looks so effective in embroidery, and you clearly have an eye for colour and shape. Did you use references for any of these or just from your imagination?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Colour advice! vest/waistcoat lining on: August 27, 2010 08:36:37 AM
I've been working on Burda style's Franzi pattern. This is actually the first piece of clothing I'll have made from scratch, and so far I'm pretty happy. But now I have a dilemma about what colour the folded collar should be, and I'm sure you awesome crafters can help!

Here's the waistcoat so far, closed, with my two colour choices for the collar shown. What do you think of the contrasting fabric?

Open. This way, I like the look of the lining fabric as it is.

Close-up of the fabric I'm using. Some really thin, greyish pinstripes, hence my lining choice.

Alternate outfit! I'd love to be able to wear it with this dress, but I'm not sure if the lining colour sticks out too much?

Here are my options:
1. Completely grey lining, as shown on the right side of the vest. Contrast will show when the collar is turned down.
2. Make new lining from the outside fabric, so the vest is all brown. Brown fabric will show when the collar is turned down.
3. Lining made from combination of both fabrics - just a little brown on the inside of the collar so brown shows when it is turned down, but grey shows when the vest is open. Does that make sense? *fail at explaining*

Let me know what you think! Thanks Smiley

Ohh, he looks adorable! This generation's water starter was actually my least favourite (for once I think grass looks the best) but you made him look so cute and huggable. <3
