1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / I may have gotten in over my head here.... on: February 19, 2011 06:30:32 PM
....and I'm going to need some help!

A friend of mine has fallen in love with this quilt she saw on etsy:

She managed to find a fat quarter pack of the fabrics (which was nearly impossible, we searched for days before one popped up on eBay).  I had told her that I could easily make the quilt for her, it's a simple enough pattern.  So, here is my problem.  The fat quarter pack we have contains 24 fat quarters.  She wants a queen sized quilt (about 84 x 92).  I really, really suck at math.  Are 24 fat quarters enough for this project?

Can someone please, please figure this out for me?  I've been trying to figure it out for an hour now, and for the life of me, I can't get the numbers to behave and make sense!  If it can work, what size do I need to cut the squares to?

Thank you so much in advance!!
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Fun design site on: January 10, 2009 11:18:00 AM
I found this site linked on a FaceBook group.  You can choose different traditional blocks and customize the colors to get a preview of a potential quilts.  I've had fun playing with it for the past 40 minutes!

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Crazy Nine Patch on: January 04, 2009 08:16:11 AM
I made this lovely crazy nine patch for my niece for Christmas.  I used Moda's Woodland Blooms and a white on white to make the bright colors pop.  I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Keri just loves it!   Wink

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Seams came apart in the wash! on: December 27, 2008 07:04:36 AM
I'm so annoyed with myself!  I made my niece a beautiful crazy nine patch quilt for Christmas.  In my rush to get it done in time, I apparently sewed too close to the edge, because several block have come apart from the sashing after I washed it.

Can I fix this without taking the whole thing apart and sewing it back up again?
5  UNITED STATES / New Jersey / Middlesex County fabric stores? on: December 21, 2008 10:35:37 AM
Anyone know of any good fabric stores in the Middlesex county area?  I've been bitten by the quilting bug and the only local resource I've got is WalMart, it seems.  They have a decent selection, though a small one, but I can never find anyone working the craft department when I go there.

Besides the internet, have I got any other options?  I can't dig up anything for the life of me!   Cheesy
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / A couple of baby quilts on: December 19, 2008 05:30:27 PM
Now that I'm able, I thought I'd share some pictures of my first two quilts.   Smiley  Despite the many little goofs I made, I'm pretty darned proud of them.

The first one was made over the summer for one of my best friends for her first child:

Being a nervous Nelly about the whole quilting thing, I went super simple by using just blocks on this one.  I love the way it turned out.
