1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Ice Cream Party Help on: June 20, 2008 10:35:26 AM
blind fold them and let them taste 10 flavors, 1 at a time, let them write down their guesses for the flavors and the one or two that get the most right win.

this is sooo cute, i want an ice cream party!!

for favors, maybe you could give them cute, (and cheap) ice cream bowls in a clear cellophane bag.

for prizes, how about ice crem scoops,  or a $5 card to friendly's or dairy queen (whatever you have near you)

i'm doing the rockstar theme for my beyond cool 5 year old daughter. i think she got the idea because we're having a punk theme party for my fiance's birthday this month. some of the things i'm doing for his party are..

a dress-up booth (thrifted clothes, fake tattoos, hair color stuff, colored hair extensions, and tattoo sleeves from oriental trading)
a guitar cake
album covers to decorate (join your local freecycle, yahoo group, and ask for albums or album covers, posters or anything rock related- you'd be surprised what's lying around people's houses waiting to be thrown out)
and i'll make up some "rock star shots" and put the recipes and ingrediants out on a table

we ask people to come in costume, but usually no one does, so we're supplying the booth to put people in the right spirit.

if you do the pool thing, call it a "Bug Bath"!!

you could make butterfly sandwiches by cutting the sandwiches diagonally and turning the middle cut out with two points in the center and put a carrot stick on top or a pretzal log for the body. (does that make sense- it does in my head...) decorate the wings with something that goes with the sandwich.

if you cut up cherry tomatoes, i'm sure you could find a way to make them look like lady bugs, and celery with peanut butter and raisins are still called "ants on a log" right??

cupcakes, iced and dusted with cookie crumbs could look like dirt for a jelly worm to climb out of.

any juice can be called "beetle juice"

a really easy craft that 2 year olds could definitely handle would be water painting small-medium coffee filters, (use those big, fat paintbrushes if you can) bunch them in the middle with a clothes pin and instant butterfly! make life easier for yourself and write names on the back of the clothespins with a sharpie ahead of time, and if you want to go all out for these, add half a pipe cleaner for antennae.

a grasshopper race where the children hop to the finish line is easy and cute. and a bug hunt would be really cute!

you could try making a web out of rope somewhere for pictures with the kids.

hope these help!!

My 12 year old girl scouts always enjoyed madlibs. You could print these out yourself, I'm sure you could find a ton if you google it. Another thing that they may enjoy is a lipsync contest, not that it's really related... I don't really know that you would need a game or anything, they may just enjoy the spa activities, movie, popcorn, etc. They tend to talk SO MUCH at that age, that you get nothing done that you planned on!

I love all of those! Thanks! I think the big problem is that rockstars DON'T eat... hmmm.. is that possible??

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: ideas for partners 20th? Mature themes! on: May 26, 2008 08:25:42 PM
Last summer, for my fiance's bday we had a "Porno Party" (just because he's a perv). We had penis and breast shaped balloons, I pulled out pages from a porno mag and stuck them in frames and put them all around the backyard (by the food, in the gazebo, you get it?), we ate clams and weiners (with a few burgers and a salad just incase someone needed more than pervert food), drank busch beer, and i made a pitcher of sex on the beach. I looked up a few x-rated shots, set out the ingredients and wrote up the recipes to put on the table. I think we made slippery nipples, blow jobs, and red headed sluts. I also had a small bowl of favors on the table... in it was some odds and ends i picked up at my local sex store when i bought the balloons and porno mag, i used things like....... sample sized flavored lubes, glow in the dark condoms, flavored condoms, pecker pops, porno staches (had to get those at a costume shop), and pins that i made. The pins were little pictures i cut out of that same porno mag and made into pins using one of those little pin makers. For music, I burned every perverse song i could find onto CD's (why didn't i just use my ipod though??? hmmm...) and played them all night.... There were a lot! People are still talking about it, it was a lot of fun, and I really didn't spend that much at all! This year we are doing a punk theme, but i don't think anything could top the porno theme!

Another thing you could do, would be play an x-rated video in the background, maybe some soft-core porn, you don't want to gross people out.... Or make awards on your computer and frame them in dollar store frames with silly things like "Best Kissing Scene" "Best Girl/Girl Scene" "Best Boy/ Girl/ Animal Scene"- you know depending on your bf and friend's senses of humor, you could be as silly as you want to be! you could spray paint barbies gold and give those out as prizes too (like statues). Does that make sense?? I'm getting tired and strange, hope I could help!

Good luck!
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Rock Star Party for a 5 year old on: May 26, 2008 07:51:50 PM
Ok, so my daughter has requested a rock star theme for her 5th birthday. She doesn't like Hannah Montana or any of those "kid rockers" so i wil be making most of the things (ofcourse!). I have lots of ideas, and I just know that all of you will too, so any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

-Banner: Happy Birthday, Ava, Punk Rock Girl (one of her favorite songs, by dead milkmen) or something to that effect
-Backstage passes for the kids, press badges for the parents
-a stage set up for the kids to perform

Goody Bags
-Guitar shaped bubble necklaces
-rock star glitter tattoos
-neon hair extensions (for the girls)
-mettalic sunglasses shaped in stars, hearts, etc
-pop rocks
-fake "grillz": the fake teeth things with gold teeth and "diamonds" in them (for the boys, since the girls get hair extensions)
-bling ring
-microphones to perform on stage (making these with paper towel tubes, styrofoam balls, electrical tape, and rhinestones, feathers, etc to dress 'em up)

What we're gonna do!
-i usually set out a craft for the kids to start doing when they arrive and wait for others to arrive... was thinking guitar poster board cutouts to decorate with markers, paint, glitter, beads, etc...or pringle cans into maracas to decorate...
-and while they are arriving and crafting, the kids will start getting all "rock starred": we'll use the things in the goody bags and whatever else i find to put out...
-then we eat... HELP! what should we eat?? i like to stick with the theme and i got nothing! Huh
-next: talent show, groups, solo, whatever, and ofcourse this will be taped!!
-cake and presents and ofcourse time to watch our talent show.... our cake will be a purple and hot pink guitar, and cupcakes will be microphones (cupcake in wafer cone, i saw someone posted that for someone else, HOW CUTE)

Where I REALLY need help...
-Invitations- Should I send a "concert ticket" or maybe a "concert poster" with the info?? maybe i could get a pic of my daughter on the concert poster with her guitar or in her best rock star pose.....

I've got lots of time, her birthday isn't until September, but I like to do everything over the summer since I don't work in July or August. Last year, we had a wild west party and that will be hard to top, we had a shooting gallery and a pony and everything!!! So what do you think?Huh Any ideas??? Kids range from 1-10, and are boys and girls. I promise to post pics (if I can figure out how)....

THANKS for reading my first post ever (my really long, rambling first post ever!!)!!!
