21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Can it all be done in time? on: October 29, 2005 07:22:20 PM
I had the same problem..trying to figure out if I could get it all done in time. My solution: a list (I looove lists).
I listed everything I wanted to make with an EKT (estimated knitting time). Since I won't be able to buy yarn for another couple weeks (am moving soon) I have to knit what I have. So I relisted everything next to a list of the weeks..so I can see what to work on every week (I like to have 2 things going at a time, in case I get frustrated by one or need some 'mindless knitting' time.
It looks kinda like this
1rst week: finger less gloves for Al
2nd week: fingerless gloves for FIL     shawl for MIL (all 3 weeks)
3rd week: socks for mom

I admit that I'm crazy...but seeing it all laid out like that makes it seem do-able (I also know when I NEED to have the yarn by and I've put 'maybe' gifts near the end of the schedule)

Ok, I understand how to make a cable, but I don't understand reading the charts...is it back and forth? or left to right? or does it just show the right side and I purl across for the wrong side?
I'm doing Josephine from Knitty (designed by our own Melodomi!)

I'm sure it will still be going next week, cause I just started it...or rather..I have the needles and yarn and just CO. I've never read cable charts before...this might be a stupid question (and I'm about to research it)  but do you read the charts from left to right? or back and forth? hmmm...

I was just going to post that! Clearly the writer's of Gray's Anatomy realize that knitting can make anything bearable...or maybe it gives a new meaning to 'yarn porn'! Roll Eyes

Hi, my name's Tara too (but TAR-a...not Tair-a)...anyhow, I'm moving to the area in the next year and am visiting some friends this weekend, going to check out the LYS...any recommendations? (so far I know of KnitNPurl and Stitches)

Hey! I was just about to start one! My friend commissioned it and bought the yarn (Sierra from Knitpicks.com). It just came in today! I can't wait to start it, but I have to--I have to finish something that's due in 2 weeks. So...I'll be joining you soon.

yeah, hotlavakal.blogspot.com. You should have received an email invitation from Blogger, asking you to join (that's the only way it'll let you post your progress) Did you get it yet? Maybe it went to your spam folder on accident?
