1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Adding straps to shoes on: December 12, 2008 03:19:42 PM

I'm just getting into "modding" clothes and potentially making my own dresses at some stage, but currently just wondering how to improve clothes I own but just don't wear.

In particular: heeled shoes.

These are fine if they have a strap or band around the ankle, but useless if not as my heel simply lifts out of them making walking almost impossible.

I feel the most simple way to resolve this is to add a strand of elastic. Particularly on these shoes:

I need to replace the ribbon on the bottom too, but it's the top where the shoes won't stay on. Do I need a fastener? Glue? Stitch? These are faux leather and there's no interior layer so I don't see how I can stitch into it.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated as I have several shoes in the same condition.

Oh, and they do fit! The size smaller didn't get my foot in and the size above is too loose.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice I've gleaned from these pages so far!
