Fab-tastic! My son would be over the moon. What kind of paint sticks to an MLP?

I, too, tend to keep all kinds of twee things because they are too charming to throw away. I'll keep this idea in mind, perhaps I can manage to make some kind of milieu boxes to surprise my boys when we are on holiday.

Lovely, the fun you've had shines through the pictures so well.

Wow. You are amazingly tidy. I'm sure you'll manage to keep structured even when little people claim some space. As for the toolbox - are you really sure you want to paint it? It's amazing as it is, if you ask me, so much history.

3-in-1 like a Kinder-Egg: 1-it saves your boots from floppyness, 2-it recycles old clothes, 3-it adds some fun in your cupboard.

That's stunning. And if your li'l one should change his mind about the carrier biz, you can always sew a matching mei tai.

Way to go! A good-looking and cool gift. You must be quite the bonus Mum.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Soft structured carrier for a doll on: May 02, 2011 01:11:56 PM
Since my littlest has a doll he likes to carry around every now and again, I considered buying him a mini-version of one of the soft structured carriers (SSC). After checking the prices of the mini-Ergo, I wasn't so sure. It was perfect, then, to find some rucksack straps that I've kept "in case I'll need them for something"  Roll Eyes after discarding an outworn backpack.

Being quite a happy-go-lucky crafter, I took some brief measures of the doll, picked out a wrap scrap and a piece of vintage bedlinen and made an impulse carrier in 45 minutes.

My little babywearer instantly took to it, but I wasn't entirely happy. The body of the carrier was too short, so the doll's head (it's a JOYK newborn with a convincingly floppy head) was falling every which way. You'd be able to see that if the only position the kiddo was willing to hold still in hadn't been "look at me, I'm a turtle". So after the holidays I unpicked the very solid stitching (when will I ever learn not to be so sturdy when I experiment) and made it longer. I also took it in a tad on the top to avoid the shoulder straps slipping from the wearer's shoulder. Presto: Better carrier. (According to my son, the doll is not smiling for the photograph because: "He can only play that he smiles, and he doesn't want to do that now.")
