2  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: ballet-wrap top from Rebecca on: March 14, 2007 06:09:38 PM
no i didn't end up blocking the sleeves, that might be a good idea, but i'm not too sure what i'm going to do, i don't find that after it was all done (minus the sleeves) that it was very figure flattering on me, so i'm still thinking of pulling it out, sad but true.....

oh well....
this is just a opportunity to make something else!!

hey everybody!!!

so i finished mine {as i said above} but when i sewed on the sleeves they didn't fit in the shoulders, so i'm sad!! the arm hole i too small!! {and i'm not that big!!} and i really don't want to re knit the whole thing!! so i think that i'm going to pull it out and knit something else!! Sad Sad

so i can't really post a pic!! i hope that it goes better for all of you!!! Cheesy

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Pin cushion box. Does anyone know how to make it? on: October 31, 2006 05:49:05 PM
I made one in high school!
they are pretty straight forward, you need cardboard (both thicker box cardboard and cereal box thickness), scissors, masking tape, hot glue gun, batting and fabric!
when i did it,(it was a few years ago, so its a little foggy but here goes!!)

using the thicker cardboard, you cut a square say 4" x 4" for the bottom, then cut the  sides out at 4" x 6" then using masking tape you tape the 4x6 sides to the 4x4 bottom, the tape needs to be put on both sides of the cardboard to act like a "hinge"

then you do the same for the smaller inside box only you would cut it 2" x 2"  (or some size like that)

then you take the fabric and cut out the shape but make sure that the fabric overhangs the sides so that you can wrap the fabric around the cardboard and glue it down with the hot glue gun.

(mine didn't have the smallest standing box in the middle, but I'm sure that you could just create the littlest box and then cover it in fabric!!)

with mine we took the thinner cardboard and cut it about 1/4" smaller then the 4x6 box then glues in batting and covered that in fabric as well to make a place for pins, or scissors, or whatever and I'm sure thats all you would need to do for the inside of the lid  as well but that also coveres the glued down fabric from the outside as well!

the lid was the hardest, you need to cut the lid top just big enough that you can glue the sides of the lid on the underside of the lid top, and make it fit over the box itself. i think the easyest thing to do is use the thicker cardboard and measure how thick it is, and measure the size of the top of the box then..... do some math...... (oh noooo!!!!) and with a little trial and error you will have a lid then cover it in fabric and you will be set!!

I hope that it all make s sense!! (i also hope that it was helpful!!!)
if you have any questions or anything you are unsure of please let me know!!!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Spark Plug Pattern? on: October 04, 2006 02:48:17 PM
when i want to make a pattern i grab some graph paper and start drawing, each little box on the graph paper represents a stitch and when i come up with something i like i knit up a little sample!

it sounds like its of work and it might be easier if you have a pic of a spark plug to work from and then you can get the general shape!

i have also heard that you can do the same thing in photoshop, but since i don't have photoshop i use my trusty pencil and graph paper!!

i hope this helps!
