11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I think Betty Draper would wear this too. on: March 22, 2012 12:46:00 PM
Hi again. Time for another dress. Today was gorgeous again so I took the chance to wear another Spring/Summer dress. I am planing on making a copy of one of the dresses January Jones/Betty Draper wears in one of the earlier episodes but the fabric isn't with me yet.
So I made this in the meantime getting in the Betty mood.

It's a simple fitted bodice, ties at the shoulders with a very very!!! full gathered skirt.
I also made another petticoat to go underneath to maximum Betty poof. This time in red to match the dress of course  Grin

What do you think, would Betty be seen in this?

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 1950s bird print shirt waist dress with full circle skirt on: March 19, 2012 01:36:45 PM
I made this dress a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a chance to take pictures of it yet. Today was the perfect oportunity as the weather was gorgeous and perfect for a Spring dress.

I also made the petticoat to go with it.

More pictures as always on my blog.
Thank you for your time. I'd like to hear your feedback.
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Teal wedding guest outfit. Dress, bolero and head piece. on: January 09, 2012 03:43:38 AM

My husband and I were invited to go to a wedding this weekend. Naturally I needed a new outfit. (Guys have it so easy don't they? As long as they have a good suit and maybe a new shirt every now and then they are always good to go.....)
I used this beautiful teal coloured duchess satin

frankensteined 3 patterns together:

The bodice is New look 6557 view E, the skirt is New look 6917 view D without the waistband and directly attached to the bodice.
Lots of beads for a belt detail that ended up being a head piece in the end.

and in the end it turned out like that all together.

I hope you like the outfit. Let me know what you think.
Thanks a lot for your time :-XX

14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A little wartime fashion, 1940s blouse, simplicity 4139 on: November 06, 2011 12:58:11 PM
It's been a while since I posted anything on Craftster and think it's time to change that.
I decided to start working on some of the vintage patterns I purchased over the Spring and Summer.
The first project was simplicity 4139, a 1940s design. I absolutely love the style and think I will be making more fromthis pattern in the future.

I used a light cotton lawn in a red floral print and vintage buttons on the front and cuffs.
You can find more pictures and details on my blog
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Vintage inspired high waisted jeans, circle skirt and matching top on: March 13, 2011 01:28:05 AM
Hi everyone, I haven't been sewing much for myself lately but now I finally have new pieces to show.
I wanted some high waisted jeans for a while now but couldn't find the right denim. What I could find in my local shops was too heavy especially with Spring/Summer in mind. But last week they finally had a lighter denim in the right colour so I whipped up these:

I used Burda 8488, which I have made a couple of times before, see here http://horrormaedchen.blogspot.com/2010/10/wide-legged-trousers-finished.html and here http://horrormaedchen.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-pair-of-trousers.html
I decided to not make the front flappy bit for the jeans and instead sew the buttons straight onto the main trousers. Do you think the red buttons look a bit clown-ish? I asked this question on my blog already but would like your opinion as well.
More pictures:

I also made up this simple circle skirt and matching top. I made my own bias binding for the top's neckline, armholes and hem.

and of course a twirl for all of you

Thanks for looking. Please let me know your comments and your thoughts on the buttons.

16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / High waisted navy nautical inspired trousers on: February 26, 2011 11:34:30 AM
I finished this pair of trousers last week. I used McCalls 5592 which was very easy to put together and I love how the trousers turned out. I'll be making them again. I already have some dark denim ready to go.

I lined the pockets with red star print cotton that I had some scraps of, for detail.

More pictures and details as always on my blog.
Also my giveaway is still open until the end of this month (Feb2011 for anyone who is looking at this in March and later....sorry guys)
Thank you for looking. I'd like to hear your comments on the trousers.
XX Have a great weekend.
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Vintage inspired black lace dress on: February 23, 2011 01:21:11 AM
I recently made this navy lace dress posted here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=372276.0
When I bought the navy lace, I couldn't pass some black lace on offer in the shop. A couple of weeks ago I went to a gig with mys sister in law and needed a dress to wear. I needed something quite goth without compromising my vintage style. So I made up this dress in the black lace and accessorised it with some vintage brooches to add more detail.

Bodice front

Bodice back
I used the same pattern as I drafted for the navy lace dress but changed the bodice. As always, I have more details and pictures on my blog.
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Vintage inspired outifit, button back blouse and high waisted shorts on: February 21, 2011 12:44:25 PM
I finished outfit number two as part of the Colette Pattern Spring palette challenge.
I made a button back blouse with red bias binding detail and matching red gabardine high waisted shorts. I might not get a lot of wear out of this in Spring but I'm sure I will come Summer.

There are a lot more pictures and information on my blog for those interested.
Thank you
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Navy lace dress and (now with action shots) and a chance to win the belt on: February 06, 2011 07:43:44 AM
I am taking part in the Colette Pattern Spring Palette challenge (http://www.colettepatterns.com/blog/colette-patterns-news/welcome-to-the-spring-palette-challenge) and I have finished my first project. A navy lace dress. I am going for a nautical inspired Spring palette as I love all things navy and red, preferably with BIG anchor buttons.
I also made a sash to go with it.

As always, there are more pictures and description on my blog.
Have a nice Sunday (well, what's left of it.)

And this is me wearing it today:

20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 1960s inspired wiggle dress on: January 14, 2011 01:40:05 PM
I finished this 1960s inspired dress today. I had the material waiting to be sewn up for some time. I kept the style rather simple to let the fabric stand out more. There are more pictures and information on my blog.
Let me know what you think. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thank you and have a great weekend everyone. XX

Can't you just see Mad Men's Joanie strutting around in the office in this one? Well maybe for cocktails after work..
