Thank you all for you nice comments!!!

That is an awesome piece of work and you look perfect in it. I like the dress with the petticoats. Would you mind telling me how much fabric total i would need to get started?
Thank you. That very much depends on how wide your fabric is and what size you are making (plus the length of the skirt in case you would like it shorter or longer) The dress I made is about a size UK10 and I used roughly 3 meters of 45" fabric plus lining and interfacing for the bodice. I can't remember how much that was. I used scraps. I hope this helps. I recommend you start of with a pattern. There are lots of similar styles out there from the big companies. They will tell you on the back of the envelope how much you will need according to the size you would like to make.
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Two toned bolero on: January 14, 2013 11:46:37 PM
I only just got back into knitting late last year and I am completely hooked this time. I used to previously start projects but never had the patience to actually finish them.
This is one of my recently knitted AND FINISHED!!!!! projects. Its a little two toned shrug/bolero. The pattern is from the book "Fitted knits" by Stefanie Japel. Its a great beginners project as all you need to know is how to knit and purl.

14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My New Years dress, Vintage repro Simplicity 1777 on: January 14, 2013 11:41:20 PM
My husband and I went to a casino themed night to celebrate the New Year which meant, I needed a new dress. I had Simplicity 1777 in my stash for a while and decided it was perfect for the occasion. It's a fairly quick sew, comes together relatively easily and looks great in either casual or evening fabric.
This is my version in purple and pink crepe back satin.

Thanks everyone  Kiss Kiss Kiss
This is stunning. I am not brave enough to do lace.
Its not as scary as you think. If you do a lace overlay, cut all your pieces in fabric and in lace and stitch them together all the way around on your seam allowance. Then you treat them as one piece of fabric and sew as you would any other material. Lace yokes are a bit more delicate but the overlay technique is very easy. If you use contrasting colours you will get a very nice effect, too. I hope this is giving you some ideas to try out.
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Cute little apron, Christmas gift idea with tutorial link on: November 13, 2012 10:50:47 AM
I have been asked by my friend how to make an apron she had seen. She was thinking of making it for a friend for Christmas but since she is new to sewing she didn't know where to start.
I really liked the style she showed me and made one myself. I took some pictures along the way and made a little tutorial for her.
I thought why not share is. Its Christmas soon and maybe this helps one or two people make a personalised and handmade Christmas gift.

her inspiration

I decided to make a yellow and black version to use up some fabric scraps I had

finished project.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Thanks hun.
This is stunning!  I tried to picture it in another color, but the red is perfect.
I might make this in another colour at some point.
Absolutely gorgeous. I actually saw a dress similar to this in new look and very nearly bought it! Now you've made me want a red lace dress all over again!!
Thanks, go get one. Can't go wrong with a red lace dress. X
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 1930s/ 1940s inspired pussy bow blouse on: November 06, 2012 02:17:34 AM

I made this a few weeks ago to extend my Autumn/Winter wardrobe with a few separates. I'm still working on it.
It's a simple fitted shape with two darts in the front and back, simple sleeves and a Peter Pan collar which I extended into two ties to tie into a nice pussy bow detail.

I am very happy with the finished result and love how vintage it looks in that brown cotton print.
I also made the trousers (I am not completely happy with them so no proper pictures and details until I am happy with them) and the beret (made from trouser scraps)
I hope you likey.
There are a few more pictures here:
