1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween advent calendar. on: October 12, 2013 05:35:08 PM
My partner in the mini Halloween swap wanted an advent calendar for Halloween.  So I made one!!

The owl and his pouches are made out of felt.  I pressed my own fabric buttons and stamped the numbers on.  I used a skull and cross bones for Halloween!

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / spooky shadowbox. on: October 12, 2013 05:28:48 PM
I decided to make a shadowbox for one of the days of the mini Halloween swap.
It's the first one I've ever made.

I sculpted the tree out of sculpey and used coconut bedding for the ground.

I love excuses to use those little viles/bottles!!

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Elegant spider hoopla. on: October 12, 2013 05:22:58 PM
I've always wanted to make a spider web hoopla, so I decided to make one for my partner in the mini 13 days of Halloween swap.

I made the spider out of wire and beads.  All pearls except for the spiders back...I found a fantastic elegant charm that just fit perfectly.

I wanted to put something on the actual hoop, so I put some 'sugar' spiders and nests on it.  The little spiders are made of two pearls and thin wire.

The nests are little pearls wrapped up in bits of lace pulled tight.

I had a hard time giving this away, but I plan to make more!

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Owls, Owls, OWLS! Alive and undead! on: October 03, 2013 12:36:33 AM
For the last round of the sweat shop swap, I offered skele-owls!!  I have a bit of an obsession with skelanimals in general, so these were a lot of fun to make!!

They are 100% felt and a little over 6" tall.  I chose the colors after finding out what colors all of my partners preferred.  I loved these little guys, they were all so unique due to the fact that I don't really make these off a pattern.  I made a pattern for the owl shape, but I leave the rest to free hand to give each one a personality of their own.

One of my partners wanted an owl for her niece....non-skeleton of course and I remember "NO PINK!" being a huge factor. hehe. Smiley
So I made a fully alive owl for the little one...which I think turned out to be my favorite! (shh...don't tell the undead! eek!)  I called her miss pretty while she was staying here.

Luckily, they were all very kind to each other before they made their way to six different parts of North America!  The skeles didn't even make fun of miss pretty for looking different.  So wise and sweet! Smiley

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Look! It's a shooting star.......NO..WAIT!...It's the DOCTOR! on: October 03, 2013 12:24:23 AM

I wanted to share a little jewelry project I did.

It's completely sculpted out of Sculpey clay.  I painted it with acrylic paint and gave it a coat of crystal clear.  I couldn't get a picture of the moon that didn't look like a snow white brick. lol.

6  COOKING / Dessert / Sulley (and Mike Wazowski, of course. :)) on: October 03, 2013 12:18:41 AM
I love Monsters Inc.!!  Well, really, I love monsters in general.  When I was pregnant with my son, I went monster crazy for him.  Monster clothes, monster toys, everything monster/baby I could get my hands on.  So, it's no surprise to me that he loves Monsters Inc. too!  I got him a big Sulley plush that he wrestles with, sleeps on, and hugs.  At times, when he wouldn't take his bottle from his dad or I, we would put the bottle in between Sulley's hands and pretend that he was giving him the bottle, and he would take it!

With that being said, we did his first birthday all Monsters Inc.!  I wanted to make him a cake unlike any other cake(the first one has got to be special!).  So I made Sulley!  This is the second cake I've ever made.

Everything is icing, except for the teeth, which are pieces of white chocolate that I cut.  The cake itself is a three layer chocolate cake.  I cut out his shape and used the pieces that I cut off to make his nose and eyebrows more 3D.  They turned out to be the perfect shapes!

This cake was rather large, but I still can't believe how long it took to do the icing work.  I wanted it to look like fur, so I individually dabbed the icing on.  One and half hours later, and my hand was sore!

After I finished Sulley, it just didn't feel right.  I felt like he was missing something(besides his horns! lol.).  And then it hit me!  How dare you make sulley without mike waszowski!!!?  So last minute, I made a whole slew of mikes to make up for my forgetting him in the first place.

Here's one before he was given a mouth.

And here is the finished products!

I have to admit, I used store bought icing....BUT...I mixed all the colors myself with white icing and dye.  I'm a perfectionist and if nothing else was going to turn out right, AT LEAST THE COLORS WOULD BE RIGHT, I TELL YOU!! Smiley

The cake was a success along with the whole day.  It was hard to watch it get destroyed!  lol...but the color of the icing looked great on my little blue eyed dream!!

Thanks for checking out my cake!! Smiley
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Tobias the Nevernude! on: October 02, 2013 11:21:44 PM
I made this hoopla for my partner in the Arrested Development swap!  When I started it, it was just going to be a giant "I blue myself" Tobias face.

I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!  I had to add his cut-offs...I mean, he would never go anywhere without them, right?  Not even on a hoopla!  Smiley
I did some repurposing of a pair of my sons 6m size jeans.  He's a little over a year now, so he didn't mind.  The face is all made out of felt, except for his moustache with is made out of a piece of fun fur.

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Buster Bluth. IM A MONSTER!!!! on: October 02, 2013 11:11:01 PM
Hii all!

For the most recent Arrested Development swap, my partner said she loved Buster the most.  So, I decided to try something that I have never done before, and make a poppet!!  I've always been a fan of poppets, but with all the amazing poppet creations on craftster, I was a little intimidated.  I decided to go for it, and was very pleased with the results!

Here he is!!

I decided to go with army buster post loose seal attack!

The hook was my favorite part!  I work in a hardware store and not only do I get a lot of inspiration from there, I get supplies too!!

I needle felted his hair onto his head and decided to give him a cartoon-ish face.

I found the perfect army print for a little guys outfit.  The clothes were NOT easy to make!!  I make clothes for myself so I thought it would be easy-peasy, but making tiny clothes is not the same.  I made the jacket only to find out that the front would not close.  TOO SMALL!!!  Thankfully, I was able to save it by adding a few pieces and I was super stoked for how the shoes turned out!  I was running myself ragged looking for tiny boots, but I think making little felt boots worked out just fine.

So there you have it!  This has opened me up to a new craft, and I want to make more. MOOOREEE!!!! Smiley

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Tea time with a few classic monsters! on: May 30, 2013 08:05:31 PM
I love monsters!!!!

With that being said, I made this mug rug for lanikins in the round 5 mug swap.

This one was hard to part with...I loved making it and was so please with the turn out..

The Mummy!

(I was so excited to find that fabric!)

And my favorites!  Frankenstein and his Bride!

(I'm planning on making a whole slew of cutesy classic monster plushies, starting with these guys.)

I chose a black and white stripe fabric for the back.

Tea is always better when you have company!!  Smiley

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sunflower Quilling. on: May 30, 2013 07:32:47 PM
In April, I participated in my first ATC swap.

This was my first ATC and my first attempt at paper quilling.

I made it for homerof2's sunflower theme.

I fell in love with quilling and ATC's after this one!
