21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Purse of Any Kind Swap Gallery!! on: March 15, 2005 11:07:10 PM
I just wanted to post a picture of the bag that I sent to Chillychick.  I was just so proud of it...it's the most professional thing I've made so far.  Plus it doesn't hurt that it's a Marilyn purse.  I love Marilyn Monroe!!

This is absolutely perfect!  Me and my friend, who is 5 months pregnant, were just talking the other day about maternity pants.  She doesn't want to shell out mega bucks for ugly pants, so I told her I would try to figure out how to make some.  I was looking at the store, but they are all so horrible that I didn't want to make any of them!  This is just great!  I can't wait to tell her....she is going to be so psyched!  Thank you!
23  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: **I'll be the phonograph that plays your favorite albums back** CD Swap! on: February 26, 2005 12:13:46 PM
So for this one, we would only have to make one CD right?
24  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Jewelery out of hardware!! on: February 16, 2005 12:24:10 PM
Well, it's not like I wear them very often...LOL

I am actually in the process of making a matching neckalace and bracelet.  I'm just waiting for my dad to have time to drill the washers.  At least these will be more wearable...

Thank you!

This is the first project of mine that I've posted, so you know how that's always a little nerve-racking...

So anyways, last year I was in the hardware store with my dad, and as usual I was wandering around the aisles looking for any weird stuff I could find that could possibly have other uses...When I came to the washers.  For some strange reason I love washers!  Strange.  Anyways, I was reminded of some earrings that I had seen on the GirlShop website that I had really liked.  So as a true craftster, I decided to make them myslef.  And for about 150$ cheaper!

So here they are.  I call them my disco earrings...

I bought six washers and then asked my dad to drill the holes in them for me.  (I can just see it, if I tried drilling through metal myself.....let's just say it would be ugly and the drill would kick my butt!).  Then I just used jump rings to attach them together.

I absolutely love these things!  The only problem is that they are EXTREMELY heavy.  It took some practice wearing them before I could actually go out with them.  (Think of them like a new pair of heels you have to break in before you wear them...)  I can wear them out for an evening, but definitely not an everyday earring.

...Just thought I would share.  Hope you like!
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Picture FRAME swap gallery on: February 15, 2005 11:29:33 PM
My swap partner has already received her frame, but she hasn't posted any pics yet, so I thought I would.

This is the frame I sent to Kuruku.

I made it out of odd found objects from around the house.  When I started, I wasn't sure about how it would turn out, but by the time I was finished, I had to head right off to the post office, or else I would have kept it!  Oh well, I'll just have to start collecting more stuff to make my very own.
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: New Loud Sari Fabric skirt and how rude is it to wear white to a wedding?? on: February 15, 2005 03:10:51 PM
Wow...I have never ever thought about whether an outift I'm wearing is conforming to the proper etiquette before.  I've worn all sorts of colours to weddings before.  I guess we're pretty laid back here.  I'm actually in the middle of sewing an outfit to a wedding I'm going to on the weekend.  My cousin, who is also one of my best friends, is getting married.  It's the first wedding I've ever been that I have REALLY cared about.  I actually did have an outift all planned out, but then I found out it was the same colours as her wedding party, so I designed something else.  My mother thought that would be rude.  So now I'm wearing hot pink and black.  Everyone who knows me knows that I would never wear anything that's not at least a bit crazy.

Also, I totally LOVE the skirt!  I always love looking at Sari fabric, trying to think of something to do with it.  Good job!

kategirl, I can't beleive the Lady Jane Costume!  That is amazing.  I was so surprised to see it, cause no one ever knows who she is.  I have been studying her for years and trust me, it is not easy, there is so little information avaliable.  Your dress is gorgeous!
