1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: cheap machine from bernina, janome, or viking, still as good as the pricey ones? on: March 30, 2009 02:40:59 PM
i have a viking emerald 116 & it was originally $499, but i got it on sale for $258 including tax. i find its a great machine. i was able to buy a freemotion & walking foot that fits most sewing machines..but the one draw back to the viking's is that you have to buy their bobbins & not the cheep ones..i quilt so i was looking for a reliable machine & i found it..good luck w/your search!

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Walmart selling sewing machines. on: February 27, 2009 05:30:38 AM
dh got me a singer simple machine paid 100 bucks for it, & it was crap. he got me a viking emerald 116 for christmas saying that by the time he would have paid the repairs on the singer , he could have gotten me this brand new one..i gave it to a friend of mine who had it tuned up & now uses it for basic sewing & not for quilting as i was trying to use it for..she still sometimes, but not all the time has a little trouble w/it... Smiley but i still love walmart cuz their sewing notions are still priced good..

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rant: Your response when people see you quilting and say stupid things to you. on: February 27, 2009 04:51:53 AM
BigBoots: Sry its taken me a little over a month to get back to you on my stories..LOL..we were having interenet problems & had to switch carriers..
Anyways you asked for more stories.. i recently took a completed quilt to work to show off to my co-workers & one of them asked me (you could tell it was me showing it off proudly) if i made it, i replied back "Nope a customer of ours made it & im just borrowing it". duh..then she asked me how did i make it how did i put it together? um let me explain this slowly: with "needle, thread, fabric, batting & some love" everyone that was around was laughing..
When i've had more coffee i will tell more..lol how about u?

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Your first machine, a buyers guide on: January 30, 2009 04:47:16 AM
i made the mistake of buying a cheap machine, & my dh saved me by getting me a $258 Husq.-Viking Emerald 116, & im about to get my serger outta layaway. i LOVE my machine & felt guilty bout the money he spent on it but like he said in the long run i would have spent more on repairs on the cheepy machine that would total cost of this new great machine!..besides..lol he's gotten several quilts out of it.  i can't wait for that serger now!
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rant: Your response when people see you quilting and say stupid things to you. on: January 30, 2009 04:21:02 AM
most of my coworkers will ask me which quilting project am i working on now, (sometimes i hand stitch some projects & take them to work) but this one girl asked me if  iwas making this recent quilt i was working on...i said no im just sitting here moving this needle & thread up & down till the other girls gets back in the breakroom.. duh you've seem me quilt before..i'm sorry i am the type if you ask me a stupid question, you will get a smarta. answer. Roll Eyes

i was in one of the fabric stores recently & the cutting lady as i approached & put my bolts on the table asked me if i wanted her to cut those for me. Shocked  i said i hope so how else are they going to get cut, you want me to cut them myself? ok i better shut up..lol i got more stories..but i will get introuble..

btw if i was buying $150 in fabric i would have complained to the mgr..i agree, you should be happy with ALL your customers...i comend you for not saying anything else..i wouldn't be able to do that..lol
