This is an amazing dress. How long did it take you?

thankyousoverymuch  Well from design to completion it took me 5 days.

answers to other questions hah....

no I didnt win the competition, didnt even make it into the semi-finals. Not phased though, the entry money went to charity so that's all good.

yes I do know there's a movie coming out! Very exciting! My name is Alice and have aaalways loved reading the both the adventures and looking glass but never got into the movies (maybe because disney made her very blonde and I'm a brunette, yes I'm a little self centred haha)

how did I make it puffy? It's held up by a tutu of denim and tulle, all sewn onto some waisted knickers (another pattern I made for swimwear)

is it wearable? yes! without the tutu its very wearable, though a little heavy..but I'm a bit quirky so I'll certainly wear it haha

what am I going to do with it? well I'm starting up my business at markets so I'm sure it will look great out the front of my stalls

Thankyou so much for all your comments! Last night I made a variation of the dress in floral cotton that I will post as soon as the weather improves and I can take some photos in my garden

Alice xoxo

You've done a fantastic job! Very nice! You look like you've got a really good finish.

Wouldn't happen to be for the Jeans4Genes "Do It With Denim" Comp? When I was doing my fashion course a couple of years ago, some of the people in my class entered some stuff in! I enrolled after they started, so I missed out on that project, looks like loads of fun!

Thanks! yes it was for the Do it With Denim competition Cheesy I took it on as an extra project just as I was finishing my diploma, silly me! It was a majorly rushed effort, lots of nights patternmaking, bleaching, sewing and doing the embroidery, but I'm happy with the result haha

Fabulous! I have re worked Alice so many times, as she is a great muse. I love the edges or the skirt, they are wavy. Is this from the natural wear of the denim? I work with used denim a lot so you find stretched areas (like the booty and knees). Or did you help it along it's wavy way? Cheesy

Thankyou so much! I did actually help it along its curvy way, I sewed horse-hair braid to the edge to show of the fall of the full circle skirt.

This is an Alice's Adventures In Wonderland inspired dress made out of recycled denim. I bleached the denim to create different shades of blue along the edges of the skirt and made a big tutu to support the dress. I also embroidered scenes from the story on the petals of the tutu. We (my model Kim and I) decided to have some fun with the make up as the photoshoot went on Cheesy
