21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / I glued my dog to my.. on: March 14, 2005 05:51:31 PM

I have a rather large australian shepard named scully.. and she was sitting on my feet one evening, dilligently watching as I covered my cell phone in rhinestones and superglue..

The house phone started ringing and I nearly had a heart attack..I jumped up to answer my phone and in doing so dropped my phone, which had just had a fresh layer of super glue applied to it.. both the phone and several rhinestones landed on my poor dog Sad

she yelped and immediately ran to her favorite spot under the kitchen table.

It took me 6 hours to coax her out from under there and by then the glue had dried and the phone and some of the rhinestones were definately stuck to her back.

she now has a 4" bald spot where I trimmed her fur off so I wouldn't have to put my head on her ass to make a call.
22  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Aquarium Wedding (Updated slightly) on: March 10, 2005 02:14:44 PM
So, my wedding is going to be at this absolutely gorgeous aquarium up on the coast..

the room the actual ceremony will be held in is something like 100 feet underwater, and is a clear dome, it gives you a 360 view of the plant and animal life around you. It's really quite a sight.

I want my whole wedding to be fairly non traditional, and I'm not at all opposed to not wearing white. (in fact, the dress I want to make would be red..)

I really like the idea of having sort of a fantasy underwater thing going on, but I'm worried that will be just.. too weird..

but beyond that, I'm stumped for ideas. What kind of decorations? Would it be too weird to have the reception in the same room as the ceremony? should I really play up the underwater theme? or just keep it simple? I have less than 50 guests coming, it's a fairly small wedding..

about the only thing I really know for sure is that I'd love to dress the little girls that are going to be my flower girl and ring bearer up as little tiny mermaids, and that my best friend, who's male, is going to be my 'bridesmaid'. I'm not sure he'd appreciate being asked to wear a dress..

edit I thought I would add that http://www.aquarium.org/thedeep/ is the room we're renting.. if you've got a good connection then check out the bubble cam tour cuz it's pretty amazing..

and that the dress is very similar to this.. but deep red

23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / err.. box for my blankie? on: January 23, 2005 06:51:10 PM
I was wondering... I have my old baby blanket... that's about the same age as I am, and it's certainly taken a beating over the ages... As much as I hate to do it, I think it's time to make a storage box for blankie.. He's falling apart and certainly not in as great of shape as he used to be.

Erm.. What could I do to protect my blankie from moths? and from smelling? and rotting? would a fancied up shoe box work?
