1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Music to Craft By Swap on: May 12, 2005 06:55:57 PM
A Mothersbaugh track!  Hats off.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Music to Craft By Swap on: May 12, 2005 03:18:48 PM
I've received one swap and heard from one person that they got my swap.  That leaves... two on both ends.

I'd be happy to send music to those who never got anything...

About the nerves- there's an anthology out on cd... came out a couple of years ago though I am not sure what label it was on.  I could find out if anybody was super-curious (I work at a record store).  I heard them first on a rhino compilation called "power pop hits" or something like that- they are very cool.

I do not have access to a digital camera just now, so I will have to post a pic later but I got my swap from elleshellmo last week!  She sent me three cd's in a fabric/paper envelope/pouch with sequins! I am a sucker for sequins. I mentioned I was interested in learning about classical, so I'm going to list the classical compilation she so thoughfully made for me!

1. Lohengrin Overture- Wagner
2. Lacrimosa- Mozart
3. Their Sound is Gone Out to All Lands- Handel
4. Traumerei- Schumann
5. Verbum Caro Factum Es- Benedictine Monks
6. Barcarolle- Offenbach
7. Lakme Flower Duets- Delibes
8. En l'ombre d'un bissonet- Josquin des Pres
9. Queen of the Night Aria- Mozart
10. Largo from Xerxes- Handel
11. X-Files theme a la Hovhaness- Hollywood Chamber Orchestra
12. Adante from Piano Concerto- Beethoven
13. Force of Destiny Overture- Verdi
14. O Esca Viatorum- J.S. Bach
15. Ave Maria- Andrea Bocelli
16. Dies Irae- Mozart
17. Big Love Addagio- Bond
18. Explosive- Bond

Also, I have a TON of Cramp's stuff- I'd be happy to make a cd of just cramps stuff for you if you think you're lacking in crampitude.  Lux spit a wine cork at my husband at a show a few years ago- we still have it.  I kind of "specialize" in old-old school punk and love to trade.
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: I just gutted & remodeled angrytooth.com... opinions? advice? on: April 24, 2005 02:48:04 PM
I know Q was selling stuff through iheartpdx, but it seems like they aren't doing much with that site anymore.  Which is a shame, because they had some super-cute stuff, and gave a really good percentage to the artists (I think they only subtracted the paypal fee).
It is difficult to keep on top of projects like merch websites after the initial blush of "project-oriented excitement" wears off-- if you're also living your life, working your day job, and persuing other venues of creativity.  I'm definitely making an effort to maintain the website regularly and actually plan on doing some advertising for it in the future.  I did really like how iheartpdx was local-only... and I have the feeling that in the next few years Portland will become synonymous with the new wave of arts'n'craftiness.  This feels like the time to make some sort of presence known, so I hope they re-energize iheartpdx and/or a coupla others step to put emphasis back in the craft/design side of this and not just brand name identification (like Giant or Paul Frank).

Talk about off subject!  Sorry for the mini-rant...

Yes! I am in Portland.  I love the minimals- I just traveled to Boston for a zine fair with heather Q (who makes them) ... she opened up her suitcase and it was full to the brim with minimals-- all these little faces peeping out; I just wonder what the baggage people thought at the airline when it went through the xray machine.

I'm happy you both like my stuff!

I really like your site.  It definitely has its own "flava" but the flava doesn't overwhelm... marvelous!  I tend to agree with Ms. Cocaine about splash pages, but yours is so COOL looking I'm a little torn...

Hey there! I sell plush toys (among other things) from my website angrytooth.com, and just finished doing a complete remodel.  I would love some advice/opinions about how easy it looks to use, etc before I release it to the non-crafty public. Please help a sista out!
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: "Music to Craft By" Swap (Sign Up CLOSED, Mail By: 05/02/05) on: April 11, 2005 10:35:36 AM
I was kind of worried about people not totally digging my selections or whatever, but then I figured, this is about learning about new music and broadening your aural horizons- I know I'll be listening to what I receive more than once, just in case my first impression didn't allow me to fully enjoy a selection's nuances.

In summation,
Nobody should have stagefright, just dub something that you might actually play while you craft.  Let your freak flag fly.

Sweet jesus, I think I just quoted Sarah Jessica Parker.  It won't happen again I promise.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: plastic animal swap? on: April 10, 2005 10:34:22 AM
I like this idea! Although I also like the idea of having to do something with the plastic animal... like make a snowglobe or mini-diorama or something.

Rat bracelets sound rad.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: To make up for what we never received......... on: April 10, 2005 10:25:58 AM
I think the volunteers question is a great idea- there must be people other than myself who live for random projects and have a ton of extra craft crap laying around at any given moment.  And that way it's not too much of a mental redirection to make another turtle-shaped handbag when you were in that groove already just last week.

I should not write email things before I've had my coffee, BUT I think the volunteers thing is a great idea.
