1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Some Top-down Raglans on: April 13, 2009 08:59:48 PM
I love the sweater! I too like horizontal stripes! Nothing wong with them! The colour variation/striping in the yarn is really pretty in fact. It looks very flattering on you. Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Climbing Vines Pullover for my Mom on: April 10, 2009 06:28:31 PM
My most recent FO, is the Climbing Vines Pullover from Interweave Knits Winter 2008.  I made it for my mommy, for her 75th birthday.  (I should really get a picture of her in it)  Ta Da!

I modifed the pattern a bit.  I made it a V-neck as she prefers v-necks.  I made the sleeves full length, and re-worked them to be bigger in the upper arm (the pattern had SUCH stupidly skinny arms!)  I also added body shaping.  My yarn wasn't the right gauge, so I re-did all the math.  I had to fudge the cap-like sleeves as I don't understand the math for those, but I think they worked out just fine. Basically I kept the vine and did my own thing.

I'm very very proud of the final result.  She even wore it on her birthday when we (3 generations of family leaving near) took her out to dinner at her favourite restaurant. Cheesy

(This is my first time posting, so if I've screwed something up, please forgive me)
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Ribbed Top from Vogue Knitting Summer 08 on: April 10, 2009 06:25:17 PM
I love the colour! It suits you very well.  The design is also fabulous, you knit it up beautifully!

If you are going to sew the back button band shut, you might be able to move the buttons around.... sew up the buttonholes, and sew the buttons on a tad more evenly.  It might work, it might not.  Depends how much it bothers you. Just a thought...

I too have had some bad times with button bands, they make me all kinds of crazy...
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Winter Blues on: April 09, 2009 08:47:42 PM
Looking at the pattern you started with, and the most *gorgeous* sweater you made, I really would never have guessed!  You truly made this your own. The colour, the way you did the cables of the sleeve, and how they join at the shoulder, lovely! Just so very lovely!

And it looks so very good on you too! Smiley  That's always my biggest obsticle myself - making it fit. heh. You do great work!!

Also, I know what you mean about men's sweater patterns!  I did the same for my man (made up my own pattern to knit him a sweater)

I felt I must add another voice to the choir, that blanket of yours is SO very amazing!  I mean, I'm not a video game person, and even I think it's WAY WAY cool! It's so accurate, and just well, amazing!  Well done just doesn't cover it.  Bravo!  Braaaaavo!  Amazing. Simply Amazing.

Also, I'm *really* glad I don't know any Mario Bros lovers cause I'm sure I'd get asked to make something like this! And my colour-work skills are nothing to yours!
