1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Steampunk Ornament Swap Round 5 Gallery on: December 15, 2017 06:19:40 AM
I received this Steampunk wreath for Sarasmile. So much gear-y goodness. I love all of the different, sizes, shapes and colored metals of the gears. And the ribbon is just the right color red. It's the heart of Steampunk.

I was also thrilled to receive this airship from Alachamy513. This airship is a tiny treasure; so carefully crocheted with perfect chain detailing and tiny propeller. The detail is delightful. After joining this Steampunk Ornament swap for a few years, I have quite the fleet of airships. Thanks, again, Alchamy513"

I also received an amazing airship from Curiousfae. I am just blown away by this airship! I love, love, love it. The detail is just amazing. Look at those fins! She even included a little "Admit One" ticket gift tag. So Cute. I hope to see your work in more Steampunk swaps in the future. Thanks for making such a great ornament.

3  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Steampunk Ornament Swap Round 5 (Closed, send outs December 6th) on: November 20, 2017 06:44:24 AM
Mine are coming along. Of course, I changed my mind a dozen times before I got down to work, the got them half finished this weekend. I can't wait to see everyone's ornaments. I am putting my Steampunk tree up this weekend.

Don't worry Curiousfae, I think four of the same if far from lame, that way I won't feel jealous of what the others received. I have participated in this swap a few times and some made them all the same (including me, now that I think of it) and others made them all different. Do what you enjoy and have fun with it.

I am so excited that you are doing this swap again this year. I am going to sign up right now. thanks Alchamy513.

Those are cute and so handy. I have seen many patterns for bags like these, but wondered which pattern you used. Since you made so many, it must be a good one.

My daughter's high school's mascot was a snail. School cheer--Let's go, Escargot!  Not kidding. But I do agree with the others, I immediately thought of a snail slowly accumulating flotsam on his sticky way. I never would have thought of that, but I love it.

I will admit that I didn't understand at first about the cubbies in the swap thread, CraftyLittleMonkey. Now I get it. Now I want some.

I love that tiny steampunk birdie. Birdies plus Steampunk=love.

Be prepared for lots of pictures, because there is a lot to see in this Sea Serpent ship I received from StudioANF. This ship is big and full of assembled goodness. This is what I came home to on my stoop.

Here is the full view of the ship. I am not sure how the body is constructed but it looks to be stiffened paper or fabric covered in "scales" made from maps.

It is guided by two golden, sparking fish. They are covered in gold scales with small crystals and stiffened lace fins and tails (I love these fish!).

The eyes are most amazing. She made wire bezels to hold the jewel eyes in place over two tiers of gears. I love the steampunk look of them.

Here is a view of the inside. A very cool gold, wood grain texture for the deck. And, individually floss-wrapped masts holding paper sails. Each in sea-worthy colors. I love the fan shaped sail.

You can see the detail of the ship's map scales here. They really evoke motion.

And here is one more full view to enjoy. (Sorry, I can't get some of the pics to post correctly.)

It is "rigged" to hang as well as stand, so I plan to hang it in my craft room. It's lovely, StudioANF, thank you so much for swapping with me and making me something so awesome.

Cookie is amazeballs. I am dying to know about her nose!!
I love the spoon arm and the earrings rock so hard it hurts.

Cookie's head, and therefore her nose, is a vintage biscuit cutter. Her nose is the handle. Inside the cutter there is usually a removable ring that lets you cut out doughnuts with a hole in the center.

Hmm, so you are only working half days, right?

Just kidding, sounds like you have a long haul ahead of you. I am sure your assemblage will be well worth waiting for.
