1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know of an ice skate baby booties pattern? on: July 10, 2009 04:05:41 PM
My cousin's wife is expecting her first child and my aunt asked me and/or my sister to make ice skate baby booties... now the trouble is finding a pattern.  Ive seen some really cute booties for sale, but not the pattern.  Can anyone help us out?
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Help with Hemp on: June 20, 2009 10:41:29 AM
So, my best friend's brother is getting married, he is the best man and it's a beachy theme wedding, so i was asked to make him a hemp anklet with cowrie shells...but i am at a total loss as how to do this...and i can't find any decent instructions online.  I have done hemp before, but just with normal beads.  If anyone can share instructions i would much appreciate it.
this is kinda what i'm looking for ish:

3  COOKING / Dessert / Dasies and Peanuts on: June 20, 2009 06:39:22 AM
I made these cakes awhile ago, but thought I'd post them anyway.  The first i made in collaboration with my best friend.  It was for my mom's 50th bday party.
The second was for school.  The assignment was to design a cake appropriate for a child. Snoopy and Linus are sculpted from marzipan.

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / opinions and advice wanted on wallets on: February 17, 2009 02:27:37 AM
So, I made myself a wallet a few weeks ago when my store bought one bit the dust.  I was mightly impressed with myself and how it turned out (minus a few mistakes that could have been avoided if i wasn't in such a rush to get it done). Anywhoo, a few people have told me i should try and sell them, so i thought "why not?!"  There is an art/craft consignment shop a few blocks down from where I live and i was thinking of checking it out.  My only concern right now is pricing.  The wallets are pretty cheap to make, probably like 3 bucks tops.  But they do take many hours expecially if i cross stitch on them.  Here's the one i made for myself as an example:
The front

The pocket in the back:

and an "Action Shot"

Basically I want to make them all pretty similiar. There will be variations obviously.  So, I really don't want to underprice myself.  I was in her shop before and there were puzzle piece earrings in there for $20 ... I thought that was a bit much, personally.  And it makes me feel that my original thought of $15 for the wallets doesn't seem like much.  I would appreciate any thoughts on pricing and also, any advice on working with consignment shops.
Thanks everyone!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / looking for credit card sleeves on: February 04, 2009 11:29:24 AM
hi all.  i've been on the hunt for credit card sleeves for a swivel wallet.  i've only found one site that carries them and they were 2 dollars apiece.  that's just too pricey for me, especially since most wallets have about 10 of these, that's already 20 bucks plus s&h.  so, for me that's just not worth it.  anyway.  i thought i had a brilliant idea to use baseball card sleeves so i ordered some of those, but they seem to be a little too thin, though i might try to make them work.
but i was wondering if any of you wonderful ladies or gentlemen would have have any idea where to buy them a little cheaper, or a way for me to make them out of something else?
thanks in advance!

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Warhol-esque stenciled tshirt of my best friend! on: December 10, 2008 04:31:52 PM
ok, so this is my first attempt at stenciling, and doing a t-shirt...

the top two are definitely better than the bottom two, i think i may go in and fix the bottom two with a paintbrush. I don't really understand how they all turned out so differently when i used the same stencil lol. oh well.  I think it's fairly decent for a first attempt.
i have a feeling this is going to get addicting!
