1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn suggestions for a hard-to-knit-for person? on: October 03, 2007 10:36:12 PM
I'm having a bit of an issue picking the right yarn for my mom's christmas project. I am knitting her a hoodie (I haven't yet decided whether it should be pullover or cardigan), but I can't decide on a good yarn.
My mom is usually on the warm side, but she works in a school where she has to run between buildings from time to time. She also has problems with eczema during the winter, and finds wool too itchy. I would like to knit her something in a lighter-weight, all-season natural fiber, but have found the costs for most too prohibitive.

2  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Nekkid Man-along? Warning: anatomically correct (knitted) men ahead! NSFW on: July 07, 2007 07:10:33 AM
I was inspired by this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=153514.0 to knit one of these. Anyone want to join me?

WARNING: This topic may contain pictures of nekkid knitted men, complete with manparts. You have been warned.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Life Pillow for my friend's birthday on: June 23, 2007 12:42:36 PM
My friend Karyn has been inspirational to me, so when her birthday came, I wanted to give her something special. She has everything she could ever want, and my own budget is pretty constricting, so (in my own craftster-y way), I decided to make her something that showed a bit of her colourful life.

A bag of tangled ribbons, a dismantled pillow, and an upholstery remnant later, I came up with a life pillow. I chose ribbons for each year of her life, lining them up in order across the side and the bottom. I tried to pick ribbons that were similar to what they represented (her husband's favourite pants are orange and he's a flamboyant guy = orange sparkly ribbon; her son is sort of a punk/goth teenager = black ribbon with a zipper look down the middle, etc.).

The result is a little wonky and pretty homey, but still nice. My friend loves it. The pillow now has a place of honour on her bed. Smiley

The Pillow:

Thanks for looking. Tell me what you think.
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I need to sell my stash. :( on: June 30, 2006 04:52:32 AM
I thought that I had seen a thread like this, but I haven't found it. Anyway....

I'm getting ready to move in a few months. In the time that I've lived in this area, my fabric and yarn stash has grown to be the biggest single portion of my assets. Since it would be too expensive to move all of this stuff with me, I need to sell it.

I have been considering different ways of getting rid of the stuff, like selling it on eBay or putting an ad in the paper, but I'm not sure of the best way to go about it.

Have you ever sold your stash? What's the best way to do it? And how much can I expect to get for my stuff?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitty Winter 04 on: December 02, 2004 05:35:08 PM
Is anyone else absolutely dying for it to be published, or is it just me? I hadn't thought about it too much until I read glampyre's blog. She posted that we're all going to "freak out" at how cute the patterns are.

So...am I the only one so obsessed?
