1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / my little fairy on: November 02, 2010 07:58:55 AM

this was my little ones first trick or treat. we were suppose to be flying back to america but our plans changed last minute so i had to come up with this pretty quick. she held still long enough for these two shots. lol. the dress was made from an old prom dress and i just added ribbon and tulle. i made the wings out of wire clothes hangers, white leggings and layers of tulle. i had so much fun making it.

we ended up trick or treating for about 30 mins before she got bored and we took her out for burgers and ice cream. lol. 8 )
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / hooded scarf pattern on: August 01, 2010 08:31:09 AM
so im getting a jump start on my winter wear and i found this hooded scarf on etsy, but let face it why spend 60$ on something you can make for less than 20$, no matter how gorgeous it is. im still kinda new to the wonderful world of crochet so without a pattern i get kinda lost. ive search the web and i cant seem to find anything.

can any one give me some helpful hints. how to begin. or even a pattern similar in look. please and thank you.

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / is it me or the pattern with the problem? (slouchy beret pattern) on: July 29, 2010 08:02:52 AM
ive been trying this pattern all morning. its my first time making any type of hat. so im not sure if im following the pattern correctly, or if maybe the pattern is a bit off. it seems like its me. or maybe i just have a big head. lol. bc everything is fine until i get to about R13. i think. it just becomes to small to fit my head. and when i take out some of the stitches so it fits its not so "slouchy" any more. lol.  Huh

can some one look over the pattern and let me know what you think?

ive youtubed "how to" all the stitches just to make sure i wasnt messing that up and that wasnt it. so now im just at a loss.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / very first fully finished quilt on: July 06, 2010 03:12:31 PM
im so proud with how this quit turned out. its my very first fully finished quilt. it took forever bc my daughter hates me being on my sewing machine. but i cant wait to get started on a thicker quilt for winter.

this one almost fits our eu king bed, so im guess its about a queen or at least a full. its very thin bc it gets really hot here in the summers. the top was suppose to be a pattern called "broken dishes" but i just used a bunch of fat quarters i had. so theres not really any color scheme. the backing is just a sage sheet we had that i wrapped around to make a boarder.

c & c welcome.  Grin

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / help?? [looking for shawl pattern] on: June 29, 2010 09:55:24 AM
i really love this shawl but im not exactly sure what its called. i found a book that has the pattern along with a few other prayer shawl patterns but its the only one i really like and im not sure i wanna buy it if i can find the pattern online for free.

6  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / blankets for nursing homes and womens shelter. help needed. on: May 03, 2010 03:22:09 AM
this is my first time doing anything like this. the other day i decided that i needed to quit talking about wanting to make a difference and actually start doing something about it. so i found this charity http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/warmup.html as of now i have several balls of yarn ready to go and a few friends interested in helping.

all you have to do is knit or crochet a 7"x9" square. any color any pattern. i will be crocheting squares, accepting squares, and stitching together squares. i will also be accepting baby blankets and lap blankets. if youre interested in helping pm me.

the finished blankets will be sent to nursing homes, womens shelters and any other organization who is in need of blankets. since i dont know of any organizations around my home in germany im sending all finished products to warming up america so they can be distributed to shelters across america.

i will try my hardest to keep this post as updated as possible on the progress.
thank you so much for your interest.

9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Reserve chute bites the dust.. on: March 29, 2010 12:33:18 AM
so here in germany the law is your reserve chute can not be repacked once its older than 15 or 20 yrs and dh's chute has hit its limit. the jump zone he goes to wanted to put it on display but dh being the amazing man he is brought it home to me so i could turn it into something. the only problem is i have no idea what to do with it. i saw this post https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=281443.0 a while back and thought it was just the coolest thing in the world.. but have decided against attempting it. since this was dh's very first rig (and since he waited and saved so long for it) i wanted to turn it into something he could use. like a woobie. (his military issue blanket made of nylon) im not really sure how big it is but when my little one was napping i got a quick look and took some pictures to post. any ideas of what i could possibly do with a 20 yr old reserve chute?? and how would i even go about cutting it up to reassemble?? its in wonderful shape., thankfully it never had to be deployed.. so dh was like a kid in a candy store when he got to deploy it.

10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / homemade cough drops?? on: March 27, 2010 09:21:11 PM
i hope this goes here. i found this tute http://www.sustainlane.com/reviews/how-to-make-cough-drops/ZTRPLTOMXYMVYDOUTPJDLB2A8LRU for homemade cough drops and i was planning on making some with green tea for my dh and since i dont like green tea i was wondering if i could use honey and lemon to make some for myself. has any one ever done any thing like this?
